A three-year star on the Rutgers-Camden softball team, Lindsay Day joined the Scarlet Raptors’ tennis program during the 2015 fall semester.
Heading into the final season of her four-year Rutgers-Camden softball career this spring, Day is among the program’s all-time leaders in numerous categories. A slick-fielding center fielder with great range, Day already is tied for eighth on the Rutgers-Camden career chart with eight home runs. She ranks 13th in RBIs (55), tied for seventh in HBP (10), tied for ninth in walks (44), tied for 18th in doubles (14) and tied for 19th in games played (106).
An All-New Jersey Athletic Conference player during her sophomore season, she owns a .362 career on-base percentage.
Tennis 2015: Competed in one match with the tennis team, going 0-1 at both fourth singles and second doubles…Lost, 6-1, 6-1, in singles against Cedar Crest College (Sept. 3)…Dropped an 8-0 match, teaming with Christine Abacan, at doubles.
Softball 2015: One of five players to start all 35 of the Scarlet Raptors’ games…Led the club with 18 walks…Tied for the team lead with three home runs and four HBP, while finishing second with eight doubles…Third on the Raptors with 23 runs and 18 RBIs…Compiled a .410 slugging percentage, a .361 on-base percentage and a .220 batting average…Stole four bases in five attempts…Collected 37 putouts and one assist in the outfield…Had two double plays, including an unassisted DP from center field in the opening game of the season against Lynchburg College (March 13), when she doubled up a runner at second base after making a catch in center…Had a three-game hitting streak March 20-25, going 8-for-11 (.727) with seven runs, six RBIs, three doubles, a triple and a home run…Started her streak going 3-for-4 with four runs, four RBIs, a walk, a double and a triple against York (NY) College on March 20…Added a 3-for-3 game with three runs, two doubles, a home run and one RBI in the opener of a March 25 doubleheader against Penn State-Abington…Went 2-for-4 with one RBI in the nightcap of that twinbill…Went 1-for-3 with a home run, two runs and two RBIs against Eureka College (March 16)…Was 2-for-4 with a double, one run and two RBIs in the second game of a doubleheader at Rutgers-Newark (March 29)…Opened a twinbill against Arcadia University (April 9) by going 2-for-3 with a double, a walk and two runs…Went 3-for-3 with two runs, three RBIs, a double and a home run in the opening game of a doubleheader at New Jersey City University (April 25)…Added a double (1-for-2), two walks and two runs in the nightcap against NJCU.
Softball 2014: Started all 34 of her games…Named All-NJAC Second Team…Finished second on the team in batting average (.313), RBIs (22), total bases (39) and walks (18)…Led the club in slugging percentage (.470) and on-base percentage (.438)…Tied for the team lead with five doubles and one triple…Tied for second on the club with two home runs, including a first-inning grand slam against New Jersey City University (March 31, Game One)…Also went 2-for-3 with a home run, two runs and four RBIs against The College of New Jersey (April 8, Game Two)…Her 18 walks tied for the 16th-best single-season mark in program history and her two sacrifice flies tied for the sixth-highest season mark…Produced a team-leading six games with multiple RBIs…Also had six multi-hit games, tied for the third highest total on the team…Her six-game hitting streak from April 16-26 (8-for-17, .471) was the longest streak on the team in 2014…Had back-to-back two-hit games against Hamline University (March 21) and Oberlin College (March 22) and also against TCNJ (April 8, Game Two) and Penn State-Abington (April 10, Game One)…Also notched a career-high 10 putouts in that Abington game…Went 2-for-3 with one run and two RBIs against Richard Stockton College (April 16, Game Two)…Turned her first career double play against Kean University (April 12, Game Two), making a putout in center field and throwing out a runner at the plate to end the first inning.
Softball 2013: Played in 37 games, starting 36…His .143 and tied for second on the team with three home runs…Tied for fourth on the Raptors with 15 RBIs…Added one double, one triple, 12 runs scored and three stolen bases in as many attempts…Had three multiple-hit games, including a 3-for-3 performance with one run, a home run and four RBIs against York (NY) College on March 2…Added a triple and a home run, going 2-for-4 with two runs and four RBIs in the nightcap of a doubleheader against Southern Vermont College (March 18)…Went 1-for-3 with a home run, one run and three RBIs in the opener of a twinbill against Briarcliffe College (April 11)…Had four games with multiple RBIs…Notched a season-high six putouts against Rowan University (April 23, Game One).
High School: A 2012 graduate of Oakcrest High School, where she earned seven varsity letters, with four in softball and three in soccer…Played softball for Coach Jason Hearn…Captured All-Cape-Atlantic League honors in both sports…Served as a team captain and was named her team’s Most Valuable Player in both sports…Honor Roll student.
Personal: Born April 25, 1994…Computer Science major at Rutgers-Camden with a Mathematics minor…Plans to become a software developer…Lindsay is the daughter of Joan and Sean Day of Mays Landing.
