The offensive and defensive leader of the Scarlet Raptors during her career at Rutgers-Camden, shortstop Nina Arroyo has captured a pair of New Jersey Athletic Conference Second Team awards and earned numerous honors in the classroom.
Arroyo has played in 84 career games, starting all 84, despite having her 2020 and 2021 seasons shortened by the pandemic. Her .335 career batting average ranks seventh in program history among all players with the NCAA minimum of 200 at bats and her .385 on-base percentage ranks 12th. Defensively, she has turned 13 double plays (ranking fourth on the program’s career list) and collected 147 assists (14th), while also adding 148 putouts.
Arroyo owns 90 career hits, including 13 doubles and one triple. She has 37 RBIs and 37 runs scored, is 7-for-8 on stolen base attempts and has 10 career sacrifices. During her Raptor career, Arroyo walked 20 times and only struck out 22 times in 269 at bats. Since her freshman year, she had 13 walks and only 10 strikeouts.

Softball 2021: New Jersey Athletic Conference Second Team…Led all regulars with a .348 batting average, 23 hits and 27 total bases…Tied for the club lead with four doubles…Added eight runs and five RBIs…Walked seven times and only fanned four times in 66 at bats…Had a .409 slugging percentage and a .411 on-base percentage…Notched 29 putouts and 29 assists, while turning three double plays…Tied for the team lead with five multiple-hit games and two multiple-RBI games…Tied for the longest hitting streak on the team with five games from April 3-10, going 11-for-17 (.647), including a 3-for-3 game with two doubles, one run and three RBIs against Ramapo College (April 6, Game One) and a 4-for-4 performance with two runs against Montclair State (April 10, Game One)…Went 4-for-7 in the doubleheader at Ramapo College (April 6)…Opened the season April 3 against New Jersey City by going 3-for-6 with two runs, two walks and two RBIs in the doubleheader…Went 3-for-5 with one walk and one run in a twinbill against The College of New Jersey (April 13)…Went 3-for-7 with one run in a doubleheader split against William Paterson (April 24)…Collected three assists on four occasions…Had a season high of four putouts, while adding two assists, against The College of New Jersey (April 13, Game One).
Softball 2020: Started all four games at shortstop in the virus-shortened 2020 season…Led the team in at bats (14), hits (6), total bases (8) and assists (10), while tying for the club lead in doubles (2) and participating in the Scarlet Raptors’ lone double play…Hit .429 (third on the team) with a .571 slugging percentage (second) and a .385 on-base percentage (sixth) while batting third in the lineup…Added seven putouts and was successful on her lone stolen base attempt…Had a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage with seven putouts and 10 assists in 17 chances…Hit safely in all four games…Tied for the team lead with two multiple-hit games…In the season-opening doubleheader split against SUNY-New Paltz (March 8), went 1-for-3 with one run in the opener and was 2-for-4 with a double, one RBI, two putouts and six assists in the nightcap…In a twinbill sweep over Gwynedd Mercy (March 10), went 1-for-3 with four putouts in the first game and was 2-for-4 with a double, one run, two RBIs and one stolen base in the nightcap.
Softball 2019: Named to the All-New Jersey Athletic Conference Second Team…Led Rutgers-Camden in hitting (.341), hits (30) and RBIs (13) while starting all 28 of her games at shortstop…Also finished second on the team in at bats (88), doubles (3), assists (50), slugging percentage (.375) and on-base percentage (.389)…Notched 47 putouts and tied for second on the team with two double plays…Scored nine runs…Walked six times…Went 3-for-4 on stolen base attempts…In the opening game of a doubleheader against New Jersey City University (March 30), went 3-for-3 with one run, five RBIs, one walk and one stolen base…Had a six-game hitting streak from March 30-April 4 (10-for-20, .500)…Had a four-game hitting streak April 16-19 (9-for-15, .600)…Closed the season with a three-game hitting streak April 25-28 (4-for-10, .400)…Scored five runs over a four-game streak from April 16-19…Went 3-for-3 with two runs, one RBI and one double in the second game of a doubleheader against Stockton April 16…Went 3-for-5 with one run and two RBIs in the second game of a doubleheader against William Paterson (April 19) after going 2-for-4 with one run, one RBI and one double in the opener…Had a team-leading eight multiple-hit games, including five contests with two hits and a trio of three-hit games…Collected nine assists in the second game of a doubleheader against Rutgers-Newark (April 28), one shy of the single-game program assist record…Had her season high of five putouts in the opener of a doubleheader against The College of New Jersey (April 10)…Notched eight total chances (three putouts, five assists) against Stockton University (April 16, Game One).
Softball 2018: Started all 31 games for the Scarlet Raptors, where she opened the season as the second baseman (18 starts) and moved to shortstop (12 starts) midway through the spring…She also started one game at third base…Named the team’s Most Valuable Player…Named Rutgers-Camden’s Raptor of the Week on March 19…Led the team with 10 multiple-hit games, including a trio of three-hit performances…Tied for second on the team with four multiple-RBI games…Had a nine-game hitting streak to open the season (March 11-15), hitting 17-for-38 (.447), tied for the second-longest streak on the team…Served as the Raptors’ leadoff hitter in 16 games and batted second in the lineup in her other 15 contests…Hit .307 (31-for-101), the second-highest average among regulars…Notched 18 runs scored and 16 RBIs, both the second-highest total on the team…Had four doubles, one triple and three stolen bases in as many attempts…Drew seven walks and was hit by a pitch once…Compiled a .366 slugging percentage and a .358 on-base percentage…Tied for the team lead with seven sacrifices…Finished third on the team with 58 assists and fourth on the Raptors with 65 putouts…Led the club with seven double plays…In her first collegiate game, against St. Scholastica (March 11), went 1-for-3 with a walk, two stolen bases and two runs scored…Later that same day, playing Sarah Lawrence, went 3-for-5 with two runs, one double and one RBI…Also went 3-for-5 with two runs against Keystone (March 13), including a triple…Had a huge doubleheader against New Jersey City University (March 31), going 2-for-3 with a double, one run and two RBIs in the opener and 3-for-5 with one RBI in the nightcap…Handled eight fielding chances against The College of New Jersey (April 5, Game One), collecting four putouts and four assists.
