Biography

A stalwart in the midfield during her four years with the Rutgers-Camden women’s soccer team, Alyson Petro also contributed to the Scarlet Raptors’ indoor and outdoor track programs during her collegiate career, participating in numerous events.
 
Petro played in all 72 Rutgers-Camden soccer games during her career, starting 52. She collected four goals and five assists for 13 career points, with two of her goals serving as game winners. Her 72 games played are tied for 10th on the program’s career list.
 
Academics: New Jersey Athletic Conference Academic Honorable Mention for the 2022-23 and 2023-24 scholastic years…Member of the Rutgers-Camden Athletic Director’s Honor Roll for the 2021 Fall, 2023 Spring and 2023 Fall semesters…Dean’s List student.
 
Soccer 2024: Appeared in all 19 games, starting 15…Collected one goal (the game winner) and three assists for five points…Assisted on Emily Owens’ goal in the Raptors’ 2-1 loss to Swarthmore (Sept. 4)…Assisted on Owen’s game-winning goal in an eventual 4-0 victory over Bryn Athyn (Sept. 18)…Collected her one goal only 5:25 into the game, curling a corner kick into the goal for the game-winning tally in an eventual 2-0 victory over Arcadia (Sept. 24)…Assisted on the game-tying goal by Brianne Reeves in a 1-1 tie at William Paterson (Oct. 23)…Contributed to all six of the Scarlet Raptors’ shutouts…Took her season high of five shots during a 2-2 tie at Kean (Oct. 26).
 
Outdoor Track 2024: Competed at two meets, beginning with the Ursinus College Track & Field Festival (April 6), when she finished 15th of 38 in the 100-meter dash (14.25) and 25th of 43 at 200 meters  (29.67)…Competed on the first day of the two-day, 13-athlete heptathlon at the TCNJ Invitational (April 11), finishing 11th in the 100-meter hurdles (19.23), seventh in the high jump (1.44 meters), 12th in the shot put (6.59 meters) and 12th in the 200-meter dash (31.59).
 
Soccer 2023: Played in all 18 games, starting 16…Collected her first two collegiate assists for two points…Her first assist came on the game-winning goal by Emily Owens in a 3-0 win over King’s College (Sept. 2)…Also had an assist in a 3-1 win over Hartwick (Sept. 9) at the Mayor’s Cup Tournament in Oneonta, New York…Took 22 shots, eight on goal…Helped Rutgers-Camden post seven shutouts and a 0.89 goals-against average.
 
Soccer 2022: Played in all 18 Rutgers-Camden games, starting nine…Collected one goal…Second on the team with 24 shots and tied for second with 12 shots on goal…Started her first three games and eight of her first 10…Notched her lone goal in a 3-0 win over Ramapo (Sept. 28)…Took her season high of seven shots in that game, four on goal…Contributed to all four of the Scarlet Raptors’ shutouts.
 
Outdoor Track 2022: The most versatile athlete on the team, competed in seven meets in numerous events, including three times in the heptathlon…Won the ECAC championship in the heptathlon…Earned New Jersey Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week honors on April 11…Made her outdoor track debut at the season-opening Stockton Invitational (March 26), establishing a PR in both the 100-meter dash (sixth of 28, 13.84) and the long jump (ninth of 23, 4.58 meters), while also tying for eighth of 15 in the high jump (1.35 meters)…At the two-day Danny Curran Invitational (April 1-2), finished 31st of 32 in her first time competing in the shot put (5.67 meters), placed 10th of 21 in the high jump (1.40 meters) and helped the 4x100 relay team finish fourth of five with a 54.10 clocking…Competed in her first heptathlon (2,663 points, eighth of 13) at the Osprey Open (April 8-9), which included a PR in the shot put (6.65 meters, 10th of 13), and a PR at 800 meters (3:04.13, 10th of 13)…Also finished fourth of 13 in the 200-meter dash (28.09), tied for fifth of 13 in the high jump (1.37 meters), was seventh of 13 in the long jump (4.03 meters), eighth of 13 in the 100-meter hurdles (18.61) and 11th of 13 in the javelin (13.83 meters)…Lowered her 100-meter hurdle time to 18.53, finishing 19th of 23, at the Widener Invitational (April 23) and dropped it again to 18.24 (21st of 30) at the Lions Invitational (April 30), while also placing 27th of 30 in the long jump (4.40 meters)…Placed fourth of four athletes in the heptathlon (a PR of 2,942 points) at the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships (May 8-9), while establishing a PR in four heptathlon events and also with the 4x100 relay team (53.35, seventh of nine)…Had a heptathlon PR in the 100-meter hurdles (18.05, fourth of four), the high jump (1.46 meters, second of four), the 200-meter dash (27.88, third of four) and the javelin (16.78 meters, fourth of four)…Also finished fourth of four in the shot put (5.90 meters), the long jump (4.57 meters) and at 800 meters (3:07.09)…Closed her season winning the ECAC title (May 18-19) as the only athlete competing in the heptathlon, while scoring 2,646 points…Notched times of 18.14 in the 100-meter hurdles, 29.12 in the 200-meter dash and 3:21.65 at 800 meters, while posting marks of 6.37 meters in the shot put, 1.40 meters in the high jump, 4.56 meters in the long jump and 14.50 meters in the javelin…Also ran on the 4x100 team (53.94, third of three) at the ECAC Championships.
 
Indoor Track 2021-22: Joined the team in time for the Frank Colden Invitational (Feb. 5) and ended up competing in four different events over four meets, including three apiece in both the long jump and the 60-meter dash…At the Colden Invitational, helped the 4x200 team finish seventh of 15 in a time of 1:58.17…Competed in the long jump (4.21 meters, 70th of 7), the 60-meter dash (33rd of 59, 8.56) and with the 4x400 team (14th of 15, 4:59.95) at the Fastrack National Invitational (Feb. 11)…Notched three PR times at the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships (Feb. 21), finishing 14th of 23 in the long jump (4.68 meters), 13th of 22 in the 60-meter dash (8.35) and fourth of nine with the 4x200 team (1:53.49)…Competed in both the long jump (14th of 21, 4.27 meters) and the 60-meter dash (17th of 24, 8.40) at the Fastrack Last Chance meet (Feb. 25).
 
Soccer 2021: Appeared in all 17 games for Rutgers-Camden, starting 12…Took 20 shots, nine on goal…Scored two goals, including one game winner, for four points…Started her first collegiate game in a season-opening 1-0 win against Elizabethtown (Sept. 2)…Started and played her season high of 70 minutes in a 0-0 tie against Kean (Sept. 25)…Made her first collegiate goal a game winner to spark the Raptors over Goucher College, 1-0 (Oct. 6)…Notched her second goal of the season in a 3-2 loss at Rowan University (Oct. 27).
 
High School: Captured two varsity letters apiece in soccer, winter track and spring track at Washington Township High School…Graduated in 2021.
