Biography

After playing mostly in the midfield to start her Rutgers-Camden career, Angela Martorano broke through to earn the starting goalkeeper job in the middle of her sophomore year and responded with a stellar effort. Starting the last seven games of the season, including back-to-back starts against nationally-ranked The College of New Jersey and Montclair State University, she posted a 1.94 goals-against average and two shutouts.
 
Through two seasons, Martorano has played in 19 games at Rutgers-Camden, including nine in goal. She has faced 150 shots, made 60 saves and allowed 15 goals for a 1.87 goals-against average in 721:13 in the net.
 
Soccer 2014: Played in 13 games, including eight in goal…Started the final seven games of the season as the Raptors’ goalie…Posted a 2-6 record, a 1.94 goals-against average and 60 saves…Had two shutouts and a .800 save percentage…Took three shots, two on goal…Started against the top two teams on the Scarlet Raptors’ schedule, allowing four goals apiece against national powers The College of New Jersey (Oct. 16, a 4-0 loss) and Montclair State University (Oct. 18, 4-1)…Outside of those games, her goals-against average was 1.22…Made her season debut against Oswego State (Aug. 31), playing the last 67:40 in goal during the Scarlet Raptors’ 2-1 loss in the second game of the Rutland Herald Invitational…Although she goa the loss, allowing one goal, she faced 19 shots, made nine saves and played so well that she was named to the Rutland Herald All-Tournament Team…Played in five early-season games as a midfielder, including 53 minutes in a 1-0 win at Cabrini College (Sept. 24)…Took her only three shots of the season in a 1-0 win against New Jersey City University (Sept. 27)…Made the first start of her career in goal and played all 90 minutes in a 1-0 loss at Kean University (Oct. 4), facing 15 shots, making three saves and allowing the one goal…In her second goalie start earned her first career win and shutout, making seven saves in a 1-0 victory over Ramapo College (Oct. 11…Faced 17 shots in that game and her outstanding work included a leaping save to bat a shot over the crossbar and a 1-on-1 save of a breakaway…That performance earned her honors on Oct. 13 as Rutgers-Camden’s Raptor of the Week…In her next two games, faced teams ranked high in both the NSCAA and D3soccer.com national polls in losses to #19/13 TCNJ and #14/12 Montclair State…Faced 34 shots against TCNJ, the fifth-highest single-game total in program history, and faced 25 shots against Montclair State…Had eight saves against TCNJ and notched 12 saves in the MSU game, tied for 12th on the single-game program list and five off the program record…Earned her second win and second shutout in a 2-0 victory at the College of Staten Island (Oct. 22), making six saves…Collected six saves in a 3-1 loss at Rutgers-Newark (Oct. 25) and nine saves in a 2-0 loss against Richard Stockton College (Oct. 29), facing 14 shots in both games.2233
 
Soccer 2013: Played in six games during her freshman season, including one as the Raptors’ goalie…Took two shots, one on goal…Played 23:33 in goal during a combined four-goalie 8-0 shutout over Sarah Lawrence College (Oct. 12)…Also played in the field during that game, totaling 42 minutes and taking one shot…Made her collegiate debut in a 1-0 loss against St. Joseph’s-Long Island (Sept. 1)…Had one shot – on goal – in a 5-0 loss against The College of New Jersey (Oct. 2), one of only five total shots (four on goal) that the team managed against the nationally-ranked Lions…Played a season-high 47 minutes in a 3-2 loss to Ramapo College (Oct. 26).
 
High School: Captured three varsity soccer letters at Triton Regional High School under Coaches Holly O’Donnell and former Raptors star Nicole Lauri…Named varsity team MVP in 2010…Earned All-Conference Second Team honors in 2010 and 2011…Varsity team captain final two seasons…Earned Leadership Award for soccer during senior year (2012-13)…National Honor Society (2011-2013)…VIP Award (2013).
