Karen Anderson helped the Rutgers-Camden women's soccer program earn post-season berths in the New Jersey Athletic Conference and ECAC playoffs during her first year with the Scarlet Raptors in 2018. The berths marked the first NJAC and ECAC appearances for Rutgers-Camden since 2007, adding another soccer accomplishment to the numerous roles Anderson has experienced during her lieftime of devotion to the sport.

On the soccer pitch as Karen Patruno, she played on a pair of New Jersey State Championship teams with the TBAA Dolphins (1998 and 1999), was a highly-decorated player at Paul VI High School, a four-year letterwinner at Rowan University and a member of the Philadelphia Pirates of the Women’s Professional Soccer League (WPSL).
 
Since 2013, she has been the owner and head trainer at Smart Soccer 101, working with a variety of teams, including the Cohansey Premier Soccer Club (Bridgeton), the Indian Mills Soccer Club (Shamong), the Millville Soccer Associate, the West Deptford Soccer Club and the WWPSA Travel Program (Princeton).
 
During her days at Paul VI, she was a two-time All-Parochial honoree (Second Team in 2001 and First Team in 2002) and a Second Team All-Conference player and an All-State South performer in 2002. She captured New Jersey Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week honors at Rowan on Nov. 10, 2003 and went on to play four seasons, collecting career totals of 16 goals, eight assists and 40 points. She graduated in 2007 with a degree in American Studies.
 
A Somerdale resident, Anderson holds a USSF F certificate, a NJYS F License, a U.S. Club Card and a U.S. Club Soccer Injury Recognition Certificate.
