In his first season, he helped the team post a 7-9 record for the Raptors’ most wins since an 8-10-2 mark in 2008. During the 2018 season, Murray helped the Raptors qualify for their first berths in the New Jersey Athletic Conference and ECAC playoffs since 2007. The 2019, 2020 and 2021 Raptors also added NJAC playoff berths, making the first time in program history that the team reached four consecutive conference playoff fields.

During the 2020 pandemic-shortened season, held during the 2021 spring semester, Murray helped the Scarlet Raptors earn their first regular-season NJAC title in program history. They advanced to their first conference championship game in program history.

Murray played collegiately at Virginia Wesleyan College, where he was one of the most successful players in the school’s history. He was named second team All-America in both 2002 and 2003, and earned Old Dominion Athletic Conference honors in each of his four years. He was named the ODAC Player of the Year and Virginia College Division Player of the Year in 2003. He helped guide VWC to two ODAC titles and three NCAA appearances during his playing career, and was inducted into the Virginia Wesleyan College Athletic Hall of Fame in 2016.

In addition, to his stellar college career; Murray has extensive experience coaching at the club level. Murray moved to Southern Jersey in 2009 from Virginia Beach, Virginia, where he coached at the Club, High School, and ODP level.  He has quickly developed a great reputation for developing players. Murray has successfully placed players at the D1, D2, and D3 levels, as well as players playing professionally.

Since 2010, Murray has served as the Director of Coaching of Mullica Township Soccer Club (MSC) in Atlantic County, NJ. Murray has spent the last three years as staff coach at Player Development Academy (PDA) South. At PDA, he has served as head coach of Boys and Girls Premier teams. He currently coaches the U19 PDA South NPL team and spends time as head coach of PDA South younger girls’ and boys’ teams.

Murray was the founder and former President/Technical Director of New Jersey Rush Soccer Club. He has served on the Coaching Staff of both Virginia and New Jersey Olympic Development Programs (ODP). Murray currently holds a USSF National C license, USSF National D and National Youth License. Additionally, he holds several specialized certifications and membership with the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA).
