Major:                          Criminology

Kevin Luber begins his fourth season as the Scarlet Raptors’ head coach and his eighth season with the women’s soccer program overall. He will be looking to return the team to the New Jersey Athletic Conference playoffs for the third time in four years after missing a post-season berth by one point in 2024.

Rutgers-Camden posted a 7-8-4 record during the 2024 campaign, missing a NJAC playoff berth on the last day of the regular season after six consecutive trips to the conference tournament. That stretch started when Luber joined the coaching staff as assistant to Head Coach Steve Weaver in 2018. After four years as an assistant coach, Luber took over the head coaching job from Weaver for the 2022 season. Facing a tough schedule that included five games against nationally-ranked teams, Luber led the Scarlet Raptors to a 4-8-6 record, a 3-3-3 mark in the New Jersey Athletic Conference and a berth in the NJAC semifinals. His first team featured four all-conference players on the soccer pitch, while 14 of his student-athletes earned NJAC academic team recognition.

Luber raised the bar during his second season in 2023, leading the Scarlet Raptors to an 8-9-1 record for their most victories since an 8-9-2 campaign in 2018. That success included another quartet of all-conference players, 13 NJAC Academic honorees and a United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award with an overall 3.28 GPA. Combined with the Rutgers-Camden men’s program, the Scarlet Raptors were one of only 105 programs nationally to have both teams earn the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award. The women also saw goalie Kayla McKeever named to the NJAC Academic First Team, while center back Amy Maurer earned a berth on the prestigious Philly-SIDA Academic All-Area Women’s Soccer Team.

 Kevin Luber’s Rutgers-Camden record

Luber’s 2024 team featured a quartet of All-NJAC players, with Emily Owens and Gianna Patitucci earning NJAC Second Team honors and Maurer and Brianne Reeves capturing NJAC Honorable Mention. The Scarlet Raptors also continued their excellence in the classroom, with 15 players capturing All-NJAC academic honors, led by NJAC Academic First Team honoree Maurer, and Rutgers-Camden earning its second straight United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award with an overall 3.33 GPA. Once again, the women combined with the Rutgers-Camden men as the school placed both teams on the USC Team Academic Award list, one of only 151 schools nationally to accomplish that feat.

Head Coach Kevin LuberDuring his first three seasons as the Scarlet Raptors’ head coach, Luber’s athletes have earned 42 All-NJAC academic honors.

Luber joined the Rutgers-Camden program as an assistant coach after a stellar collegiate playing career in the New Jersey Athletic Conference for The College of New Jersey. During his first year at Rutgers-Camden, Luber was part of the staff which helped the Scarlet Raptors qualify for their first berths in the NJAC and ECAC playoffs since 2007. He helped the Raptors add another NJAC playoff berth in 2019, marking the program’s first back-to-back conference playoffs since 2004 and 2005. Over his first six years as an assistant and head coach at Rutgers-Camden, Luber’s teams reached the NJAC playoffs every season, marking the longest run in program history.

During the pandemic-shortened 2020 season, played during the 2021 spring semester, Luber helped the Scarlet Raptors earn the top seed for the NJAC playoffs, marking the first time in program history that Rutgers-Camden earned the regular-season conference title. The Scarlet Raptors reached the NJAC playoff championship game that season, another milestone accomplishment.

Luber played from 2006-09 at The College of New Jersey, where he was a three-year starter, a two-year captain and a three-time All-NJAC player for the Lions. He added All-ECAC honors among his numerous awards and ranks second in TCNJ history with 26 career assists.

Luber has been a trainer and coach since 2010, including stints as an assistant coach at Cumberland Community College (2013/2014) and as a Players Development Academy (PDA) head coach since 2016. He holds a USSF National B license and a Director of Coaching Diploma from United Soccer Coaches (formerly National Soccer Coaches Association of America). He also is CPR and AED certified.

Luber graduated from TCNJ in May 2010 with a Bachelor’s degree in Criminology (Criminal Justice).
