Biography
A stellar center back, India Barnes has earned All-New Jersey Athletic Conference honors during both of her seasons at Rutgers-Camden, while starting all 24 games the Scarlet Raptors played over that span. She has contributed to 10 shutouts during her two collegiate seasons.

As a freshman, she was one of the major reasons the Rutgers-Camden women’s soccer team captured the top seed in the NJAC playoffs for the first time in its history and set a program record by shutting out five straight NJAC opponents during the pandemic-shortened 2020 season. Barnes was a key anchor of that stingy defense in her role as a center back, on her way to NJAC Rookie of the Week and NJAC Second Team honors. She added NJAC Honorable Mention as a sophomore.

Academics: New Jersey Athletic Conference Academic Honorable Mention for the 2021-22 scholastic year…Member of the Rutgers-Camden Athletic Director’s Honor Roll and a Dean’s List student for the 2020 Fall, 2021 Spring, 2021 Fall and 2022 Spring semesters.

Soccer 2021: New Jersey Athletic Conference Honorable Mention…Started all 17 Rutgers-Camden games, contributing to five shutouts and a defense that posted a 1.07 goals-against average…Played every minute in 14 games, including 110 minutes in 0-0 double-overtime ties against Kean (Sept. 25) and Ursinus (Oct. 20)…In addition to those two games, helped the Scarlet Raptors post shutouts over Elizabethtown (1-0, Sept. 2), Goucher (1-0, Oct. 6) and New Jersey City (3-0, Oct. 16)…Helped hold the nation’s top-ranked team, The College of New Jersey, to only one goal in a 1-0 loss Oct. 13…Limited the nation’s fifth-ranked team to two goals in a 2-0 road loss at Messiah College (Sept. 21)...Took her lone shot in the Ursinus game.

Soccer 2020: New Jersey Athletic Conference Second Team…NJAC Rookie of the Week March 22 after her role in a 2-0 shutout against New Jersey City (March 17) and a 1-0 shutout over Stockton (March 20)…During the short NJAC season that was played during the spring semester of 2021, she started all seven Raptor games, establishing herself as one of the top center backs in the conference…Played all but four minutes during the season, all coming in her season-opening game at Ramapo (March 10), when she made her collegiate debut with 86 minutes…Had a high of 110 minutes during a 0-0 tie against Montclair State (March 31)…Helped the team open its season with five straight shutouts, tying the 2004 team for the most shutouts to start the year, while setting a program record with shutouts against five consecutive NJAC opponents.

High School: Two-sport letterwinner at William Penn Charter School…Captured four varsity soccer letters for Coach Darci Spencer…Added three varsity basketball letters…Earned Second Team All-Inter-AC as a junior and First Team All-Inter-AC as a senior…Academically, captured Honors as a freshman and a junior, while earning High Honors as a sophomore…Graduated in 2020.

Personal: Born June 23, 2002…Enjoys hanging out with friends, traveling, and listening to music…Psychology major at Rutgers-Camden who plans to get a PhD in Forensic Psychology…Also considering combining her education with criminology, criminal justice or sociology in an effort to be part of an FBI team…India is the daughter of Charese and Kevin Barnes of Philadelphia.
