Biography

Kayla de Guzman started 30 of her 54 career games at Rutgers-Camden, while playing everywhere from the back to up top. She collected two goals (one game winner) and one assist for five career points.
 
De Guzman also has earned numerous academic honors.
 
Academics: New Jersey Athletic Conference Academic Honorable Mention for the 2019-20, 2020-21 and 2021-22 scholastic years…Rutgers-Camden Athletic Director’s Honor Roll and Dean’s List student for the 2018 Fall, 2019 Spring, 2019 Fall, 2020 Spring, 2020 Fall, 2021 Spring, 2021 Fall and 2022 Spring semesters…One of only 26 athletes on the 119-member 2022 Spring AD Honor Roll to earn a perfect 4.0 GPA.
 
Soccer 2021: Appeared in 15 games, starting eight…Took seven shots, four on goal…Collected her first career assist, coming on the game-winning goal by Lauren Calabria in a 2-1 victory at Ramapo College (Oct. 9)…Started eight consecutive games from Sept. 29-Oct. 23, beginning with a game at Stockton where she played a season-high 62 minutes…Took her high of two shots (one on goal) and played 47 minutes in a 1-0 win at Goucher (Oct. 6)…Played 58 minutes in a 1-0 loss against #1-ranked The College of New Jersey (Oct. 13).
 
Soccer 2020: Appeared in four games during the Scarlet Raptors’ pandemic-shortened seven-game season…Contributed to three of the Scarlet Raptors’ five shutouts, including a season-opening 3-0 win at Ramapo (March 10)…Also played in a 2-0 win over New Jersey City (March 17) and a 0-0 double shutout against Montclair State (March 31), in which she logged 22 minutes…Also played 22 minutes in a 3-1 NJAC semifinal win over Ramapo (April 10).
Soccer 2019: Appeared in 17 of the Raptors’ 18 games…Started eight games…Took four shots, two of them on goal for a .500 shots-on-goal percentage…Started five of her first six games, including the season opener against Elizabethtown (Aug. 30)…Took two shots, both on goal, against Shenandoah (Sept. 8)…Contributed to the Raptors’ 1-0 conference shutout against Rutgers-Newark…Played a season-high 72 minutes at Ursinus (Oct. 23).
 
Soccer 2018: Played in 18 of the Scarlet Raptors’ 19 games, starting 14…Scored two goals for four points, including one game-winning goal…Took 18 shots, including eight on goal…Played a role in all six Raptor shutouts and helped the team post a 1.23 goals-against average…Started her first collegiate game, playing 71 minutes in the Raptors’ season-opening 4-2 loss at Elizabethtown College (Aug. 31)…Helped the Raptors post their first shutout of the season when she started a 1-0 win over Lancaster Bible College (Sept. 5)…Played her season high of 90 minutes in a 2-0 loss at Washington College (Sept. 8)…Took three shots, including her first one on goal, and helped anchor a strong defensive effort in a 2-0 shutout at Rosemont College (Sept. 17)…Scored her first collegiate goal, accounting for the Raptors’ lone tally in a 2-1 loss against Cabrini College (Sept. 19)…In addition to the Lancaster Bible and Rosemont games, started shutouts against New Jersey City (4-0, Sept. 29), Rowan (0-0, Oct. 10) and William Paterson (2-0, Oct. 20), while also contributing to a 2-0 shutout against Ramapo (Oct. 13)…Scored the game-winning goal against Paterson, scoring off a feed by Melissa Peel at 22:47 to produce the only goal until the Raptors added an insurance tally with 4:25 remaining.
 
High School: Multi-sport letterwinner at Cherry Hill High School East, earning three varsity letters apiece in soccer and basketball, while adding one in lacrosse…Played soccer for Coach Lee Troutman…Honor Roll student.
