Biography

After a brilliant four-year soccer career at Rutgers-Camden, Lindsay Hernandez joined the women’s tennis program for the 2023 spring semester. She played in eight singles matches and four doubles matches with the tennis program.
 
Hernandez captured her third All-New Jersey Athletic Conference soccer honor as a senior during the 2022 season. A four-year Scarlet Raptor soccer letterwinner, Hernandez played in 52 games, starting 50, in the Rutgers-Camden midfield. She collected nine career goals and eight assists for 26 points, including three game-winning goals.
 
In addition to her NJAC First Team honor in 2022, Hernandez captured NJAC Second Team honors for the 2021 season and NJAC Honorable Mention in 2019.
 
A stellar student as well, Hernandez earned numerous academic honors.
 
Academics: New Jersey Athletic Conference Academic Honorable Mention for the 2019-20, 2020-21, 2021-22 and 2022-23 scholastic years…Member of the Rutgers-Camden Athletic Director’s Honor Roll and a Dean’s List student for the 2019 Fall, 2020 Spring, 2020 Fall, 2021 Spring 2021 Fall, 2022 Spring, 2022 Fall and 2023 Spring semesters…One of only 21 athletes on the 106-member 2023 Spring AD Honor Roll to post a perfect 4.0 GPA.
 
Women’s Tennis 2023: Joined the women’s tennis team during the spring semester and posted a 3-5 record at sixth singles and a 2-2 mark at third doubles…Made her tennis debut April 8 against Salisbury, losing at sixth singles, 0-6, 0-6…Posted her first singles win two days later against Arcadia with an 8-6 victory at sixth singles…Played both singles and doubles against Stockton (April 15), dropping a 1-8 match in singles and losing, 0-8, in doubles teamed with Ashton Sirko…Earned a pair of victories against William Paterson (April 19), sweeping her singles match, 6-0, 6-0, and joining Sirko for an 8-4 doubles win…Also posted conference wins against Kean (April 22) with a 6-2, 6-1 singles victory and an 8-3 doubles win with Sirko.
 
Soccer 2022: All-New Jersey Athletic Conference First Team…Started all 13 of her games before a season-ending injury…Scored one goal and added two assists for four points…Took seven shots, three on goal…Served as a team co-captain…Assisted on the game-winning goal by Josie Jackson-Conner in a 4-1 victory at William Paterson (Sept. 24)…Also had an assist on a goal by Emily Owens during a 3-0 win over Ramapo (Sept. 28)…Scored a goal and took her season high of three shots in a 3-1 win over New Jersey City (Oct. 1)…Contributed to three of the Scarlet Raptors’ four shutouts during the season, missing the last one due to an injury.
 
Soccer 2021: All-New Jersey Athletic Conference Second Team…Played in 16 games, starting 15…Led the Scarlet Raptors in goals (4) and points (9), while notching one assist…Had one game-winning goal, coming in a 2-1 victory over William Paterson University (Oct. 2), when she scored both goals…Took 20 shots, 11 on goal… Named Rutgers-Camden’s Raptor of the Week on Oct. 4…Her penalty kick goal in a 3-1 loss at Stockton University (Sept. 29) ended Rutgers-Camden’s scoreless string of 598:18 minutes…Scored in four straight games, starting with the Stockton game and continuing with the two goals against Paterson, an assist on the winning goal in a 1-0 victory at Goucher College (Oct. 6) and a goal in a 2-1 win at Ramapo College (Oct. 9)…Played the full game on seven occasions, including a double-overtime loss against Washington College (Sept. 11) and a loss in the first overtime against Rutgers-Newark (Oct. 23).
 
Soccer 2020: Played in five games, despite injuries, in the Raptors’ seven-game pandemic-shortened season…Started four games…Took 10 shots, five on goal...Scored one goal and led the team with three assists and five points…Collected a goal and one assist in a 2-0 victory over New Jersey City (March 17), with her assist coming on Mya Bocchicchio’s game-winning goal…Had two assists, including one on Amanda Giordano’s winning goal, in the Raptors’ 3-1 victory over Ramapo (April 10) in the New Jersey Athletic Conference semifinals…Took three shots in both the NJCU and Ramapo games, including two on goal in each contest…Played all 90 minutes in a 1-0 win over Stockton (March 20) and a 1-0 loss to Montclair State in the NJAC championship game (April 14).
Soccer 2019: All-New Jersey Athletic Conference Honorable Mention…Started all 18 Raptor games and tied for the team lead in scoring with eight points…Finished tied for second on the team in goals (3) and tied for the team lead in assists (2)…Led the team with two game-winning goals…Took 21 shots, nine on goal (.429 percentage)…Made her Scarlet Raptor debut in the season opener against Elizabethtown (Aug. 30), playing 82 minutes…Played every minute of eight games, including all 110 minutes in a double-overtime game at Stockton (Nov. 2) in the New Jersey Athletic Conference playoffs…Had her first 90-minute game against Shenandoah (Sept. 8), taking her first two shots…Scored her first goal to account for the Raptors’ lone tally in a 3-1 loss at Cabrini (Sept. 19), converting the team’s lone penalty kick of the season…Notched her first assist on Breana Winder’s game-winning goal in a 2-1 victory at Neumann (Sept. 25)…Collected three points – an assist and the game-winning goal – in a 4-1 victory at New Jersey City (Oct. 5)…Scored the Raptors’ game-winning goal in a 1-0 victory against Rutgers-Newark (Oct. 12)…Had her season high of five shots against William Paterson (Oct. 26).
 
Pre-Rutgers: Was a red-shirt freshman at West Chester University in 2017…Used her first year of eligibility with the Rowan University women’s soccer program during her 2018 sophomore season. 
 
High School: Captured eight varsity letters at Brick Memorial High School, including four in soccer for Coach Billy Caruso…Also earned three basketball letters and one lacrosse letter…On the soccer pitch, earned All-A-South Second Team honors as a junior and All-A-South First Team recognition as a senior…Captured A-South Honorable Mention during her senior year in basketball…National Honor Society…Graduated in 2017.
