After making her collegiate debut with the Rutgers-Camden women’s soccer team last fall, Nicolette Stafford continued her busy freshman year as one of the top sprinters on the indoor and outdoor track teams. In addition to earning three varsity letters as a freshman, she was named the Most Dedicated athlete on the indoor and outdoor track programs.
Academically, Stafford earned a spot on the Rutgers-Camden Athletic Director’s Honor Roll during both the Fall 2016 and Spring 2017 semesters.
Outdoor Track 2017: Competed in the 200-meter dash in seven spring invitationals, while also adding races at 100 meters, 400 meters and with the 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams…Ran her lone 100-meter dash at the season-opening Golden Rams Invitational (March 25), placing 31st of 42 (14.07), while also finishing 32nd of 42 in the 200-meter dash (28.98) and anchoring the 4x100 relay team, which placed fourth of six with a 52.58 clocking…Finished 15th of 17 at 200 meters (29.88) and 11th of 16 at 400 meters (1:07.15) at the Stockton Invitational (April 1)…Ran a personal-best 28.16 time to finish 13th of 24 in the 200-meter dash at the Oscar Moore Open (April 8)…Placed 19th of 58 athletes in the 200-meter dash (28.68) and ninth of 32 in the 400-meter dash (1:03.71) at the Gwynedd Mercy Mid-Week Twilight Invitational (April 12)…Finished 32nd of 72 at 200 meters (28.26) and 30th of 69 at 400 meters (1:03.85) at the Widener Invitational (April 22)…At the Lions Invitational (April 29), placed 41st of 73 in the 200-meter dash (28.27)…Ran both days at the New Jersey Athletic Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships (May 6-7), finishing 19th of 27 in the 200-meter dash preliminaries (28.23) and 10th of 17 in the 400-meter preliminaries (a PR of 1:02.83) on the opening day…On the second day of the NJACs, ran the leadoff leg on both the 4x100 relay (54.31, seventh of seven) and 4x400 relay (4:22.15, sixth of eight).
Indoor Track 2016-17: Sprinter who competed in the 200-meter dash in four meets and also helped Rutgers-Camden set program relay records…Posted a 30.39 clocking in the 200-meter dash at the Gotham Cup (Jan. 20), finishing 64th of 66 athletes…Placed seventh of 14 in the 200-meter dash (30.40) at the Widener Field Meet (Jan. 27), while also running the leadoff leg on the 4x160 relay team which finished first of three squads with a program-record time of 1:32.67…Set another program relay mark in the 4x200, running the second leg as the Raptors finished 10th of 12 (1:58.36) at the St. Joseph’s College Invitational (Feb. 11)…Also ran the 200-meter dash in a personal-best time of 29.65 at the St. Joseph’s meet to finish 52nd of 82…At the NJAC Indoor Track & Field Championships (Feb. 20), finished 21st of 26 (29.72) in the 200-meter dash and also ran the second leg of the 4x200 relay which finished sixth of six and broke its own nine-day old record with a 1:55.80 clocking.
Soccer 2016: Played in 13 games, starting four…Tied for fifth on the team in scoring with four points and tied for third with two goals…Had one game-winning goal…Took six shots, four on goal…Started her first collegiate contest and played 62 minutes in a 3-0 loss at 12th-ranked Swarthmore College in the season opener, Sept. 1…Notched the game-winning goal at 83:52 to lift Rutgers-Camden over Alvernia University, 3-2 (Sept. 7)…Added her second career goal in the second half to force No. 22-ranked Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute into overtime before the Raptors dropped a 2-1 decision in a non-conference road game (Oct. 5)…Played her season high of 75 minutes in a 3-2 overtime loss to New Jersey City University (Oct. 8).
High School: Graduated from Kingsway Regional High School in 2016.
