Rutgers-Camden Athletics

Sarah Yannes returns to the soccer pitch this fall after competing in a pair of sports for the Scarlet Raptors during the 2014-15 scholastic year. A transfer from Burlington County College, Yannes lettered on the 2014 Rutgers-Camden women’s soccer team and was a member of the lacrosse program during the spring semester.
 
Lacrosse 2015: Played in four games, starting one…Collected one goal, one ground ball and three draw controls…Took six shots, three on goal…Notched her goal at Elizabethtown (March 8)…Collected a ground ball at Delaware Valley University (March 10)…Had a draw control against Immaculata University (Feb. 28), Elizabethtown and Delaware Valley.
 
Soccer 2014: Played in 12 games, starting eight…Took 11 shots, six on goal…Made Raptor debut Aug. 30, playing 49 minutes against the host team at the Castleton State College Tournament…Played 35 minutes off the bench the next day against Oswego State, launching her first two Raptor shots, both on goal…Made first start in a 3-0 victory over Elms College (Sept. 7)…Had two shots, one on goal, during a 1-0 victory over Widener University (Sept. 11)…Had her high of four shots during a 1-0 win over New Jersey City University (Sept. 27).
 
Pre-Rutgers: Played one season of soccer at Burlington County College during her sophomore academic year…Served as the Barons’ team captain…Earned All-Garden State Athletic Conference Second Team…Captured All-Region Second Team.
 
High School: Earned a pair of varsity letters on both the soccer and lacrosse programs at Holy Cross High School…Played soccer for Coach Sergio Torres…National Honor Society Vice President.
 
Personal: Born November 9, 1993…Last name pronounced “YAN (as in can)-niss (as in hiss)”…Her sister Kathryn was a star member of the Rutgers-Camden women’s crew team and sister Bridget rowed at the University of Buffalo and coached the sport at Rutgers-Camden…Hobbies include soap carving and adding to her Beanie Baby collection…Nursing major at Rutgers-Camden…Sarah is the daughter of Anne and Tom Yannes of Edgewater Park.
