One of the anchors of an outstanding Rutgers-Camden defense over her four seasons, Sophia Spadano started 57 of her 60 games with the Scarlet Raptors, contributing to 18 shutouts and four New Jersey Athletic Conference playoff berths over her career. As a junior, the Raptors’ right back helped Rutgers-Camden open its season with five consecutive shutouts, tying the 2004 club for the most season-opening shutouts. It also marked the first time Rutgers-Camden has ever blanked five straight NJAC opponents.

An All-NJAC performer both on the soccer pitch and in the classroom during her career, Spadano added one goal and three assists for five career points.

Soccer 2021: Played in all 17 Rutgers-Camden games, starting 16…Helped team post five shutouts and a 1.07 goals-against average…Scored her first career goal, coming in a 3-2 loss at Rowan University in the regular-season finale Oct. 27…Took seven shots, four on goal, while also helping the Raptors hold opponents to one or no goals in 12 games…Took her high of two shots (one on goal) in a 3-0 win at New Jersey City University (Oct. 16)…Played the full game on 10 occasions, including a season high of 110 minutes in a 0-0 double-overtime tie against Ursinus College (Oct. 20).

Soccer 2020: Started all seven games during the pandemic-shortened season, which was played in the 2021 spring semester…Took one shot on goal…Led the team to season-opening shutouts against Ramapo (3-0, March 10), New Jersey City (2-0, March 17), Stockton (1-0, March 20), Kean (2-0, March 24) and Montclair State (0-0, March 31), marking the first time the Raptors have ever blanked five straight NJAC teams…Named NJAC Defensive Player of the Week (March 29)…Played her season high of 96 minutes in the 0-0 overtime tie against Montclair State…Also played a complete 90-minute game against Montclair State in the NJAC championship game on April 14.

Soccer 2019: Played in 17 of the team’s 18 games, starting 15…Tied for the team lead with two assists…Took seven shots, four on goal for a .571 percentage…Contributed to two shutouts and a team goals-against average of 1.98…Helped the Raptors hold opponents to two or fewer goals in 11 games…Played the full game in six contests, including 110 minutes in a 0-0 double-overtime game in the NJAC playoffs against Stockton (Nov. 2)…Assisted on the Raptors’ lone goal by Breana Winder in their season-opening 4-1 loss against Elizabethtown (Aug. 30)…Assisted on Lauren Calabria’s goal in an eventual 2-1 win at Neumann (Sept. 25)…Added two shots, both on goal, in the Neumann game.

Soccer 2018: Captured New Jersey Athletic Conference Honorable Mention recognition…Started all 19 Rutgers-Camden games, helping the team post six shutouts and a 1.23 goals-against average…Helped team qualify for the NJAC and ECAC playoffs for the first time since 2007…Took five shots, including four on goal for an .800 percentage…Notched one assist…Made her career debut starting the season opener in a 4-2 loss at Elizabethtown College (Aug. 31)…Started and played 55 minutes in a 1-0 victory over Lancaster Bible (Sept. 5)…Played all 90 minutes of a 2-0 loss at Washington College (Sept. 8), the first of 13 games where she played every minute…Those 13 games included all 110 minutes during overtime NJAC ties against Montclair State (1-1, Sept. 15) and Rowan (0-0, Oct. 10)…In addition to the Lancaster Bible and Rowan games, also contributed to a 4-0 shutout against New Jersey City (Sept. 29) and a trio of 2-0 wins over Rosemont (Sept. 17), Ramapo (Oct. 13) and William Paterson (Oct. 20)…Had her first career assist in the Ramapo game, feeding Meghan Wachira for her eventual game-winning goal only 6:24 into the contest.
