Rutgers-Camden Athletics

Alex Turcu earned his first collegiate tennis letter during the 2024-25 scholastic year, posting an overall 9-11 record while playing everywhere from fourth to sixth singles and competing at all three doubles spots. Turcu added academic honors as a freshman at Rutgers-Camden.
 
Academics: Member of the Rutgers-Camden Athletic Director’s Honor Roll for the 2024 Fall and 2025 Spring semesters…Dean’s List student.
 
Tennis Spring 2025: Had an 0-4 singles record during the Raptors’ four spring matches (0-2 at fifth singles and 0-2 at the sixth flight)…Went 1-3 in doubles (1-0 at first doubles with Alex Loope and 0-3 at third doubles with Julian Pinder)…In the spring semester opener against Neumann (March 28), lost at fifth singles (1-6, 0-6) and won at first doubles (6-3)…Lost at Salisbury (March 29) at fifth singles (1-6, 0-6) and at third doubles (0-6)…In a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference tri-match on April 19, lost at sixth singles against Oneonta (1-6, 2-6) and against The College of New Jersey (0-6, 0-6), while also dropping matches at third doubles against Oneonta (2-6) and TCNJ (0-6).
 
Tennis Fall 2024: Posted a 4-2 record in singles (2-0 in fourth singles, 1-2 in fifth singles and 1-0 in sixth singles)…Also fashioned a 4-2 doubles record (2-2 in first doubles with Loope and 1-0 in both second and third doubles with Neal Shah)…Finished second on the team in wins during the fall semester, going 8-4 overall…Made his collegiate debut in the season opener against DeSales (Sept. 7), earning a 6-3, 6-4 win at fifth singles and a 7-6 (7-5) victory at first doubles with Loope…Posted wins at fourth singles (6-0, 6-2) and first doubles with Loope (6-1) against Penn State-Brandywine (Sept. 20)…Facing Division II Kutztown (Sept. 21), lost at fifth singles (0-6, 0-6) and first doubles with Loope (1-6)…Dropped a marathon match at fifth singles (6-3, 0-6, 0-6) and lost at first doubles with Loope (2-6) at Scranton (Sept. 29)…Posted a win at sixth singles (6-1, 6-0) and third doubles (6-2 with Shah) at Wilkes (Oct. 5)…Closed the semester at Eastern (Oct. 19) with a 6-1, 6-4 win at fourth singles and a 6-4 victory at second doubles with Shah.
 
High School: Graduated in 2024 from Bridgewater-Raritan High School.
 
Personal: Born October 20, 2005…Enjoys fishing and spending time with friends…Psychology major at Rutgers-Camden who plans to “get a good job in my degree”…Alex is the son of Simona and Adrian Turcu of Bridgewater.
