Biography

Mia Owens had a stellar sophomore season for the Rutgers-Camden volleyball team, leading the Scarlet Raptors in digs while hiking her career total to 692, 12th on the program’s career list. With 308 more digs, she will become only the sixth player in program history to reach the 1,000-dig career milestone.
 
In addition to her two volleyball letters, Owens owns one letter with the Scarlet Raptors’ softball program.
 
Academics: Member of the Rutgers-Camden Athletic Director’s Honor Roll for the 2023 Fall, 2024 Fall, 2024 Fall and 2025 Spring semesters…Dean’s List student…One of only 41 athletes on the 180-member 2025 Spring AD Honor Roll to post a perfect 4.0 GPA.
 
Volleyball 2024: Appeared in all 26 matches and 97 sets for the Scarlet Raptors…Led the team with 381 digs, the 11th-highest single-season total in program history…Added 46 assists, 17 aces and three kills…Collected double-digit digs in 20 of her 26 matches…Had a high of 27 digs in a five-set match against Wilkes (Sept. 14)…Notched 26 digs over four sets against Rowan (Oct. 24)…Had 25 digs in four sets against Penn State-Harrisburg (Sept. 14)…Collected 24 digs in five-set matches against Neumann (Sept. 28) and Rutgers-Newark (Oct. 1)…Also had over 20 digs with a total of 22 in a five-set match against DeSales (Aug. 31)…Notched her season highs of five assists against both Ursinus (Sept. 21) and Eastern Mennonite (Sept. 21)…Collected her high of three aces against Wilkes (Sept. 14).
 
Softball 2024: Played in 17 games, starting five (three at second base and two at catcher)…Hit .176 (3-for-17) with five runs and two RBIs…Reached base once as a hit batsman…Successful on both of her stolen base attempts…Had 11 putouts, four assists and two errors for an .882 fielding percentage…Made her collegiate softball debut as a pinch-runner in the third inning of the season opener against Carroll (March 9)…Had her first start later that day against Wentworth Institute of Technology, playing second base and going 2-for-5 with one run, one RBI and one stolen base, while collecting three assists…Made her second start in the nightcap of a Gwynedd Mercy doubleheader (March 26), playing second base and going 0-for-2 with three putouts and one assist…Started at catcher in both games of a doubleheader against Catholic (April 18), going 0-for-5 with one HBP at the plate, while notching three putouts in each game…Started at second base in the second game of a doubleheader against Neumann (April 25), going 1-for-3 with one run, one RBI and two putouts.
 
Volleyball 2023: Played in 88 sets over 26 matches…Led the team with 311 digs and a 3.53 digs per set average…Finished fifth on the team in assists (21) and sixth in service aces (15)…Added two kills…Had 15 matches with double-digit digs, including 32 against Gwynedd-Mercy (Oct. 25) and 31 against William Paterson (Sept. 26)…Had four consecutive double-digit matches in digs early in the season and ended the campaign with seven straight double-digit dig matches…On Sept. 16, had her high of four assists, while getting 19 digs, against Penn State-Harrisburg and completed the tri-match that day with her high of five aces against Wilkes.
 
High School: Captured eight varsity letters at Williamstown High School, including four in volleyball for Coach Chris Sheppard and four in softball for Coach Daniel Torcasio…Two-time All-Conference First Team volleyball player…Led the Braves to two state volleyball championships and a Tournament of Champions title...All-South Jersey…Tournament MVP…In softball earned All-Conference First Team as a senior after capturing All-Conference Second Team honors during both her sophomore and junior years…Team MVP as a senior…Coaches Award as a junior…Captured the “W” award during both her junior and senior years…Carpenter Cup as a junior and All-Star Game as a senior…Honor Roll as a senior…Graduated in 2023.
