Sophomore goalkeeper James Brett had another phenomenal week for the Rutgers-Camden men’s soccer team, helping the Scarlet Raptors to a 1-0-1 record against a pair of New Jersey Athletic Conference opponents. In a 1-0 victory over The College of New Jersey Wednesday night in Camden, Brett tied his career high of 14 saves, many of them spectacular ones, while earning his fourth shutout of the season. Brett followed that performance with another 14-save effort Saturday in a 1-1 double-overtime tie at Ramapo College. Overall, in 200 minutes, Brett made 28 saves and allowed only one goal during the week, while facing a total of 44 shots. For the season, Brett owns a 0.83 goals-against average, four shutouts and 69 saves while helping the Scarlet Raptors to a 5-2-3 record overall and a 2-1-1 NJAC mark. For his young career, he has played 3,027:47 minutes in goal, ninth on the all-time program list and within eight minutes of eighth place. He has faced 491 shots, sixth all-time and only 22 away from the fifth-place player, while making 192 saves and posting 10 shutouts. Brett owns a 0.98 goals-against average at this point in his career, which currently ranks third on the program’s all-time list.
