Junior guard Jovan Childers becomes Rutgers-Camden’s first Raptor of the Week for the new year and wins her second consecutive weekly honor after scoring a game-high 24 points in the lone sporting event of the week during the holiday break. Her 24 points on Dec. 30 sparked the women’s basketball team to a 77-63 victory at Hunter College, raising their record to 8-3. The first-year Scarlet Raptor, who is a transfer from Cumberland County College, shot 9-for-14 from the floor as she tied her Rutgers-Camden career scoring output, set Dec. 1 against King’s College. She also notched a team-high three steals and tied for the team lead with two assists against the Hawks. For the season, Childers leads the Scarlet Raptors with a 16.0 scoring average.
