Senior guard Vincent Anfield Jr. averaged 29.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.5 steals in a huge week for the Rutgers-Camden men’s basketball program last week. His two-game performance was highlighted by scoring 39 points at Stockton University Wednesday, including 30 in the second half alone. He shot 14-for-20 from the field, including 4-for-7 from three-point range, and went 7-for-7 from the foul line in his big night, notching the most points by a Scarlet Raptor since Dane Nicholson scored 40 against Arcadia on Jan. 6, 2005. Anfield’s 39 points were only seven shy of tying the program’s single-game record. He also collected eight rebounds three assists and three steals in that game. He followed that performance with a 20-point day against Kean University Saturday, adding six boards and two assists. For the week, he shot 23-for-34 (5-for-9 from three-point range) from the field and went 9-for-9 from the foul line. For the season, Anfield is averaging 13.6 points and is shooting .550 from the field (110-for-200), .470 from three-point range (31-for-66) and .773 from the foul line (34-for-44). A first-year Scarlet Raptor who played two years of junior college ball with Rowan College at Gloucester County and was a member of Montclair State University’s team last season, Anfield also is averaging 3.8 rebounds for the Scarlet Raptors, while adding 33 assists and 35 steals (one behind team leader Marcus Taylor). Anfield also won Raptor of the Week honors on Jan. 15.
