Senior rightfielder Adrian Gonzalez closed the regular season with a huge week as the Scarlet Raptors went 5-0, won the New Jersey Athletic Conference regular-season baseball title for the first time in program history and earned the top seed in the upcoming NJAC playoffs. Gonzalez hit .500 (8-for-16) with a .750 slugging percentage and a .579 on-base percentage in the Raptors’ five games, while leading the team with four doubles and eight RBIs. He had a huge day on Saturday as Rutgers-Camden swept Ramapo in a doubleheader to clinch the regular-season title, going 3-for-6 with two doubles, two runs and five RBIs. Included in his big week was a three-hit day against Rutgers-Newark Thursday, allowing him to pass the 100-hit milestone in only his second year at Rutgers-Camden. Gonzalez enters post-season play with a .336 batting average and a team-leading 44 RBIs, only two shy of the program’s single-season record. He also has a team-leading 12 doubles, four shy of the single-season program mark that he tied last year.
