Junior goalkeeper Kayla McKeever had a stellar season for the Rutgers University-Camden women’s soccer team and her talents were on display last week in the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championship Tournament. McKeever made five saves in the NJAC quarterfinals as fifth-seeded Rutgers-Camden played to a 1-1 double-overtime tie at fourth-seeded Rutgers-Newark Oct. 29. She added another stop during the penalty kick session as the Scarlet Raptors advanced with a 4-3 PK decision. In the NJAC semifinals, Nov. 2 at nationally-ranked and top-seeded Montclair State University, she kept the powerful Red Hawks off the scoreboard in another double-overtime game, making seven saves, as the teams played to a 0-0 draw before Montclair State finally advanced on penalty kicks. For the season, McKeever played 1,232:15 minutes in goal, posted a 1.90 goals-against average, a .698 save percentage and three shutouts. She made 60 saves, including a high of eight during a 1-1 tie in the regular season against Rutgers-Newark (Oct. 15). In 27 games over her three-year career, McKeever owns six shutouts and a 1.40 goals-against average. She has a career .744 save percentage and 93 saves.
