Sophomore forward Cherif Kanoute had a big week as he led the Rutgers University-Camden men’s basketball team to a pair of wins, putting the Scarlet Raptors in the position to potentially qualify for the New Jersey Athletic Conference playoffs for the first time ever. The only times the Raptors have played in the NJAC playoffs were during the two Covid years, when every team in the conference made the post-season field. In wins over Kean and William Paterson, Kanoute averaged 14.0 points and 9.0 rebounds, while adding three assists, two steals and one block. In the Kean game Wednesday, Kanoute had his fourth double-double of the season with a team-high 17 points and a game-high 11 rebounds, while adding two assists and two steals. In a win over Paterson Saturday, he had 11 points, a team-high seven rebounds and added one assist and one block. For the season he leads the team in rebounding (6.0 rpg) and blocks (15), is third in scoring (9.3 ppg) and fourth in assists (40). He also has 17 steals. He is shooting 51.6 percent from the floor (81-for-157).
