Wyatt Polk ended his collegiate career on March 4 by scoring a game-high 33 points as the Rutgers University-Camden men’s basketball team played the first post-season game since becoming a NCAA Division III program. The Scarlet Raptors lost a 68-65 decision at New York University in the ECAC Div. III Metro Men’s Basketball Championship quarterfinals. Polk, a senior guard who transferred to Rutgers-Camden after three years at Caldwell College, shot 13-for-28 from the floor and also added three steals and two rebounds. In his lone season with the Raptors he captured New Jersey Athletic Conference First Team recognition, tied the program record with 24 consecutive free throws early in the year, captured NJAC Player of the Week honors on both Dec. 8 and Jan. 5, and was named to the Louis Fleming Basinger All-Tournament Team (Dec. 29-30). He scored 466 points, the 14th-highest single-season total in program history, and finished with the eighth-best single-season scoring average at 22.2, the leading mark in the NJAC. Polk’s Raptor of the Week recognition gives him three weekly honors this season. He also was the Raptor of the Week on November 24 and January 5. In his combined collegiate career, Polk scored 1,404 points.
