Rutgers-Camden Athletics

Senior left fielder Devon Welsh had a spectacular week for the Rutgers-Camden softball team, hitting .684 (13-for-19) with two doubles, one home run, six runs and seven RBIs in the Scarlet Raptors’ six games. She also reached base once as a hit batsman, stole three bases and had a .700 on-base percentage and a .947 slugging percentage. Welsh hit safely in all six games during the week to stretch her hitting streak to seven games overall. Her biggest game was a 4-for-4 performance with two runs, one RBI and a double against Arcadia University in the opener of a doubleheader sweep April 9. In the second game of a twinbill at The College of New Jersey April 7, her three-run home run in the second inning helped the Raptors overcome a 1-0 deficit on their way to a 5-2 victory. It was the first home run of her two-year Rutgers-Camden career. For the season, Welsh is leading the Scarlet Raptors with a .441 batting average.
