Box Score 2 MAHWAH, N.J. – The Rutgers University-Camden softball team is quickly making the 2013 season a distant memory.
The Scarlet Raptors, who won only four New Jersey Athletic Conference games all of last season, won their fourth NJAC game in two days here Tuesday as they swept past Ramapo College, 2-1 and 6-3. The doubleheader sweep comes on the heels of a home sweep against New Jersey City University Monday and raises the Raptors' record to 11-4-1 overall and 4-0 in the NJAC.
All four of those victories were pitched by sophomore
(Maple Shade, NJ/Audubon). Senior catcher
(Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) plated Dick with a ground out.
Ramapo tied the game in the second on an unearned run, aided by two of the Raptors' five errors in the game.
Rutgers-Camden 6, Ramapo 3
In the nightcap, Rutgers-Camden bounced back from a 2-0 first-inning deficit, scoring two runs in both the second and third innings to take the lead for good. The second inning featured RBI doubles by sophomore centerfielder
Lindsay Day (Mays Landing, NJ/Oakcrest) and Welsh. Rice had an RBI single and Day added a sacrifice fly in the third.
Scott singled home a run in the fourth and Dick had a sixth-inning sacrifice fly for the Scarlet Raptors.
Scott, meanwhile, tossed a seven-hitter, allowing one walk and three runs, one of them unearned.
For the game, Welsh went 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI, while Dick was 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
