Box Score
CAMDEN, N.J. – Rowan University junior righty Dylan Johannink (Medford Lakes, NJ/Shawnee) worked 7.1 strong innings and senior Nick Henderson (Browns Mills, NJ/Pemberton Township) earned his first save of the season with clutch relief work as the Profs edged Rutgers University-Camden, 3-2, in a battle between two of the elite baseball programs in the New Jersey Athletic Conference here Friday.

The game earned Rowan a split of the home-and-home series, but was nothing like Thursday's contest in Glassboro, when the Scarlet Raptors won an 11-9 slugfest. In this contest, pitching took control as Johannink (3-0) edged tough-luck Rutgers-Camden sophomore starter
Dashon Jones
(Blackwood, NJ/Highland Regional).
Sigismondi immediately was erased on a double play.

In the fifth inning, however, senior rightfielder
Joe Sigismondi
(Newark, NJ/Newark East Side).
Junior Rich Powelson (Shamong, NJ/Seneca) opened the frame with a single and advanced to third on a balk and a wild pitch. He scored on a long foul fly to right field by Grant.

Rutgers-Camden bounced back with a run in the bottom of the frame against Johannink, sparked by a leadoff single from freshman catcher Jon Theckston (Gloucester, NJ/Gloucester Catholic). He scored on a one-out double by Sigismondi.

The biggest inning of the game came in the bottom of the eighth when the Raptors loaded the bases against Johannink and reliever Carlos Ruiz (South Plainfield, NJ/South Plainfield). Theckston hit a leadoff single and sophomore third baseman Brett Tenuto (Audubon, NJ/Gloucester Catholic) reached on a fielder's choice that retired Theckston. Ruiz entered the game and hit Sigismondi and walked freshman designated hitter Joe Brooks (Blackwood, NJ/Gloucester Catholic) before he was relieved by Henderson. Henderson retired the dangerous Gonzalez on an inning-ending double play and worked a 1-2-3 ninth inning for the save.

Johannink ended up allowing seven hits and two earned runs in 7.1 innings. He struck out nine and didn't walk a batter. Henderson worked 1.2 perfect innings, striking out one.

Scarlett allowed three hits, four walks and two unearned runs in 4.2 innings, while fanning four. Jones allowed one hit, two walks and one run in 4.1 innings. He struck out two.

Sigismondi and Theckston both went 2-for-3 for the Raptors as the lone batters in the game to collect multiple hits. Sigismondi had one RBI, while Theckston scored a run.

Both teams return to NJAC action with 11:30 a.m. doubleheaders Saturday. Rowan hosts Rutgers University-Newark, while Rutgers-Camden travels to William Paterson University.
