NEWARK, N.J. – Senior rightfielder

(Blackwood, NJ/Highland Regional) was pitching a seven-hitter to raise his record to 6-3. Reagan allowed just one earned run and one walk, while striking out four.

Rutgers-Camden gave Reagan the lead for good with a three-run second inning. Gonzalez opened with a single to left field – his 99th hit as a Scarlet Raptor – and stole second base. One out later, he advanced to third base on a single by freshman leftfielder

(Blackwood, NJ/Highland Regional) was hit by a pitch. He advanced on a wild pitch and scored on a single to left field by Gonzalez, who reached the 100-hit milestone in only his second season as a Scarlet Raptor.  Gonzalez stole second base and scored on a double by junior first baseman Connor Hall (Delran, NJ/Delran). Theckston added another double to plate Hall.

The Scarlet Raiders notched their only run in the bottom of the fifth when junior third baseman Nick Gencarelli (Pompton Plains, NJ/Pequannock) was hit by a pitch and scored on a two-out double by sophomore second baseman Gerry Patrizio (Belle Mead, NJ/Montgomery).

Freshman designated hitter Joe Brooks (Blackwood, NJ/Gloucester Catholic) singled in the top of the sixth inning, advanced to third on the 101st hit by Gonzalez, a double, and scored on a fielder's choice by Carter.

The Scarlet Raptors added three runs in the ninth on the first Rutgers-Camden home run by Romano. He plated Theckston and freshman second baseman Matthew McElhatton (Haddon Heights, NJ/Camden Catholic), following singles by both players.

Gonzalez and Theckston both had three hits on the night, with Theckston needing only a home run to hit for the cycle. Theckston also scored two runs and had two RBIs.

 Hall, Carter and Romano each had two hits, with Romano collecting four RBIs.

 The two teams play again Friday at 3:30 p.m. in Camden.
