Box Score 2 CAMDEN, N.J. – The Rutgers University-Camden baseball team entered the spring tabbed as the "dark horse" team in the pre-season poll by New Jersey Athletic Conference coaches.
After sweeping past Montclair State University here Saturday by identical 8-2 scores, the Scarlet Raptors have transformed from a "dark horse" into a serious contender. The two wins hike the Scarlet Raptors to a conference-leading 4-1 record in the early season, while their fourth consecutive victory gives them a 13-5-1 mark overall.
The Scarlet Raptors ripped 22 hits in the doubleheader and rode the strong arms of starters
(Vineland, NJ/Vineland) had a two-run triple in the frame. Senior rightfielder
(Delran, NJ/Delran), who went 4-for-4 with four runs and a two-run home run. Hall, who missed a cycle by only a triple, had two singles and a double in addition to his second home run of the year.
Holder went 2-for-3 with one run and three RBIs, while freshman designated hitter
Joe Brooks (Blackwood, NJ/Gloucester Catholic) went 2-for-4 with one run.
Sigismondi had seven assists at second base, three shy of the program's single-game record.
