Women's Volleyball splits day one at DeSales University Invitational

CENTER VALLEY, PA - Rutgers-Camden traveled to Center Valley, Pennsylvania this weekend to compete in the DeSales University Invitational.  The Scarlet Raptors started the day with a win over Baruch College, but the victory was shortly followed with a loss to DeSales University.

Rutgers-Camden opened against Baruch College on Friday at 5:00pm.  The Scarlet Raptors beat the Bearcats 3-2 (13-25, 25-21, 17-25, 25-23 and 15-13). 

Junior Sydney Allen recorded 12 kills, 2 block assists and a solo block, while Olivia Rowland added 11 Kills. Setters Nancy Brown and Erin Thompson combined for 33 assists.

Melanie Kaiser, defensive specialist/libero, had a great defensive performance with a career high 39 digs (3rd in Program history for Digs in a Match).  Kaiser also had 7 service aces.

The Scarlet Raptors second game of the day was against DeSales University. The Bulldogs beat Rutgers-Camden 3-0 (25-19, 25-11, and 27-25).

Freshman Lauren Pace had a team high 8 kills. Olivia Rowland and Sydney Allen each recorded 6 kills.

Setter Nancy Brown set a new career record with 20 assists. Melanie Kaiser notched 18 digs.

Rutgers-Camden (1-1, NJAC 0-0) will start day two of the DeSales University Invitational on Saturday, August 30th at 10:00am against Albright College.  The second game is scheduled for 2:00pm against University of Mary Washington.
