Katie Gurba set a program record with her 11th career shutout
MADISON, N.J. (Sept. 11, 2016) – The Rutgers University-Camden women's soccer team stretched its unbeaten streak to four games as it played to a 0-0 tie in double overtime against Moravian College Sunday at the Drew Fall Festival.
The Scarlet Raptors, who are 2-0-2 since losing their season-opening game against 12th-ranked Swarthmore College, worked double overtime both days at Drew University's tournament, including a 1-1 tie with the host team Saturday.
Sunday's deadlock was an even affair with Moravian holding a slim 14-11 edge in shots and both teams taking three corner kicks. Both Moravian goalie Jessica Lawton and Raptor junior keeper
Katie Gurba (Westampton, NJ/Holy Cross) made four saves. The shutout was the 11th career shutout for Gurba, setting a new program record. She had been tied at 10 with Therese Comella (2004-05).
The only save in the overtime periods came by Lawton in the 104th minute, stopping a shot by Raptor junior midfielder
Kaitlyn Ennis (National Park, NJ/Gateway Regional). Ennis and sophomore back
Maggie Sande (Medford, NJ/Shawnee) both took three of the Raptors' 11 shots. Out of Rutgers-Camden's four shots on goal, two came off the foot of Ennis.
Rutgers-Camden returns to action Saturday at 11 a.m. when it begins New Jersey Athletic Conference play at Rutgers-Newark.
