WILKES-BARRE, Penn. (Oct. 27, 2018) – The Rutgers University-Camden volleyball team combined for 85 kills and 82 assists as it split a pair of four-set matches here Saturday to close its season.
Rutgers-Camden defeated Marywood, 3-1 (25-20, 25-19, 22-25 and 25-19) before losing to host Wilkes University, 3-1 (18-25, 25-19, 13-25 and 22-25) in the back end of the tri-match.
Rutgers-Camden, which closes its season with an 11-17 record, received 22 kills in the tri-match from junior outside hitter
Morgan Mulligan, 18 from senior middle hitter
Myiah Gatling and 12 from junior outside hitter
Jamie Mulligan. Morgan Mulligan also had six service aces and a team-high 29 digs.
Freshmen
Brinn Hassan (pictured above) and
Kayla Benesz notched 34 and 20 assists, respectively, with Hassan adding a team-high seven service aces. Junior
Caitlynn Marcano added four aces to run her career total to 99.
Sophomore
Ashley Newman and freshman
Savannah Hayes each had 18 digs, while freshman
Haley Novak notched 14.
Senior
Victoria Lake had a team-high two blocks – one solo and one assisted – while adding nine kills.

The Raptors won behind 12 kills and a .556 hitting percentage from Gatling and 11 kills from
Morgan Mulligan, who hit .429.
Jamie Mulligan and freshman
Delaney Kolb both added six kills.
Hassan notched 19 assists and four service aces, while Benesz added 15 assists.
Morgan Mulligan led the way with 15 digs, while Newman had nine and both Novak and Hayes added eight.
Lake collected the Raptors' lone solo block and also added four kills.
Wilkes University 3, Rutgers-Camden 1
Morgan Mulligan had 11 of the Raptors' 33 kills, while Gatling notched six and Lake added five.
Hassan had 15 assists, while adding three aces to tie
Morgan Mulligan for the team high in that category.
The Scarlet Raptors notched 64 total digs, including 14 by
Morgan Mulligan and 10 from Hayes. Newman added nine digs, while Novak, Benesz,
Jamie Mulligan and Hassan each collected six.
