CAMDEN, N.J. (Nov. 20, 2018) – Rowan University freshman center Ayanna Johnson had a huge double-double with game-high totals of 31 points and 24 rebounds to lead the Profs to a 91-81 victory over Rutgers University-Camden here Tuesday in the New Jersey Athletic Conference opener for both women's basketball teams.
Rowan evens its overall record at 2-2, while Rutgers-Camden falls to 3-2.
Rowan leads the all-time series, 53-17, although the teams split their two games last season.
The teams battled to a 39-39 halftime deadlock, with Rowan's Johnson registering a double-double by the break with 17 points and 10 boards. Rutgers-Camden junior guard
Fatimah Williams notched 15 of her career-high 28 points in the opening half. Her previous high of 21 points came Nov. 13 against Penn State-Schuylkill.
The teams were tied three times in the second half, with the last time coming at 56-56 following a jumper by Raptor freshman forward
Breanna Ettrick. The Profs' freshman guard Grace Marshall ended the third quarter with a trey to put Rowan ahead for good.
Rowan scored 16 of the first 19 points in the fourth quarter to open up a 75-59 lead, the biggest margin of the game. Johnson notched six of those points in that run. Rutgers-Camden managed to slice the margin to seven points on three occasions down the stretch (75-68, 82-75 and 86-79) before the scored their last five points from the foul line.
In addition to Johnson, Rowan received 19 points from Marshall, 14 from Dominique Peters and 11 from Kennedy Brown, who nailed seven of 10 foul shots. For the game, the Profs shot 24-for-38 from the foul line and held a 59-27 advantage off the boards, fueled by Johnson's presence.
Williams shot 10-for-21 from the floor and 8-flr-11 from the line for the Scarlet Raptors, while adding a team-high seven rebounds. Freshman guard

Tamara Johnson netted 11 for the Scarlet Raptors. Johnson-Kelly also dished off a team-high five assists, one behind Rowan's Olivia Rulon for game-high honors.
