DOYLESTOWN, Penn. (Sept. 6, 2018) – It took a team approach to help the Rutgers University-Camden Scarlet Raptors break an early-season skid and return to their winning ways on the volleyball court.
Rutgers-Camden used 13 players, combined for 33 kills, 36 digs and 27 assists and went on to sweep Delaware Valley University, 3-0, in a non-conference match here Thursday. The Raptors won by scores of 25-15, 25-6 and 25-19.
Rutgers-Camden improves to 2-4, snapping a three-match losing streak, while Delaware Valley University falls to 2-3.
Junior
Jamie Mulligan led the attack with nine kills, while hitting .316. Freshman
Nicole Long added four kills and hit .400.
Picking up the assists were freshmen
Brinn Hassan and
Kayla Benesz, collecting 11 and nine, respectively. Sophomore
Ashley Newman added five assists and had a team-high 15 digs. Hassan,
pictured above, led the Raptors with five service aces, while junior
Morgan Mulligan added three aces and seven digs.
Sophomore
Emma Browning had two assisted blocks, while adding three kills.
The Scarlet Raptors host Rutgers-Newark Tuesday at 7 p.m. in their New Jersey Athletic Conference opener.
