CAMDEN, N.J. (Jan. 23, 2019) – The Stockton University women's basketball team received double-doubles from senior forward April Peterson and junior guard
Lajerah Wright and the Ospreys placed four players in double digits offensively as they defeated Rutgers University-Camden, 73-66, in New Jersey Athletic Conference action here Wednesday night.
Stockton, which snapped a six-game losing streak, improves to 5-14 overall and 2-10 in the NJAC in splitting its season series with Rutgers-Camden. The Ospreys hold a 61-21 lead in the all-time series.
Rutgers-Camden, which had won five of its last six games entering the contest, falls to 11-8 overall and 6-6 in the conference.
Camden led by as many as seven points (16-9) early in the game and held a 16-13 lead after one quarter. Sparked by the shooting of freshman guard Emily Donzanti, however, the Ospreys scored seven of the first 10 points of the second half, surging into a 20-19 advantage for their first lead since an early 3-2 advantage.

Fatimah Williams helped Rutgers-Camden regain the lead at 24-21. The Scarlet Raptors opened up a 28-24 advantage before the Ospreys scored the last seven points of the half to take the lead for good, 31-28. Donzanti hit a three-pointer to spark that run, while Wright put Stockton ahead, 29-28, with a jumper with 1:24 left in the half. Peterson tacked on a jumper just before halftime.
The closest the Scarlet Raptors came in the second half was a 34-33 deficit early in the third period. Stockton led by as many as 11 points on six occasions in the fourth quarter, the last coming on a 69-58 score with 1:59 remaining in the game.
Junior forward Raquel Harris-Scott led the Ospreys with 17 points, while adding six rebounds to help Stockton hold a 43-36 advantage off the boards. Donzanti finished with 15 points and a game-high eight assists. Peterson had 12 points and 11 rebounds for her double-double, while adding four assists and three steals. Wright, who played for the Scarlet Raptors during the 2016-17 and 2017-18 seasons before transferring to Stockton, finished with 11 points and a game-high 14 rebounds.
Rutgers-Camden received a game-high 23 points from Williams
(pictured above), who added 10 rebounds for her second double-double of the year. Her 10 rebounds tied a career high set in a double-double against William Paterson University on Dec. 1.
The Scarlet Raptors also received the third straight double-double, and fifth of the season, from freshman guard
Wykira Johnson-Kelly. She notched 15 points and 11 rebounds, while adding three assists and three steals.

Gabby Greene collected 12 points, while senior guard/forward
Ariel Robinson netted six and added four boards. Sophomore guard
Shane Holmes and freshman forward
Tamara Johnson both added five points, with Holmes collecting a game-high six steals to set a career high. She also led the team with four assists.
Stockton shot 29-for-62 (46.8 percent) from the floor and Rutgers-Camden went 25-for-66 (37.9). The Scarlet Raptors were 7-for-28 (25.0) from three-point range.
Rutgers-Camden returns to NJAC action Saturday when it hosts Kean University at 1 p.m.
