EWING, N.J. (Jan. 30, 2019) – Senior guard Samantha Famulare scored 11 points in the opening quarter, lifting The College of New Jersey to a quick 27-16 lead, and the Lions went on to defeat Rutgers University-Camden, 76-47, in a New Jersey Athletic Conference game here Wednesday night.
The Lions, who entered the contest one game behind Rowan University at the top of the NJAC standings, improved to 11-3 in the conference and 13-8 overall with their third straight win. They have won their last four meetings against the Scarlet Raptors and lead the all-time series, 58-12.
Rutgers-Camden fell to 12-9 overall and 7-7 in the NJAC.
TCNJ never trailed as it jumped out to a 5-0 lead and built first-quarter advantages of 9-2, 12-4 and 19-9 on the way to its 27-16 lead after 10 minutes. By halftime, TCNJ held a 40-30 lead, led by 13 points from Famulare, who scored a game-high 19 points when TCNJ beat Rutgers-Camden, 70-60, in Camden on Dec. 5. Junior guard
Fatimah Williams had 16 of the Scarlet Raptors' 30 first-half points, aided by 7-for-8 shooting from the floor, including 1-for-1 from three-point range, and 1-for-1 from the foul line.
The Lions led, 52-37, after three quarters.
Famulare finished with 19 points for TCNJ, which placed nine players in the scoring column. Junior forward Jen Byrne and junior guard Lauren Barlow both scored 11 points for the Lions. Byrne added a game-high five assists. Sophomore forward Shannon Devitt hauled down 14 rebounds, helping the Lions control the boards by a 43-30 margin, and added seven points.
Williams,
pictured above, finished with a game-high 21 points for the Scarlet Raptors and added a team-high 10 rebounds for her third double-double of the season. It was her second double-double in the last three games.
Raptor senior guard
Gabby Greene opened the fourth quarter with a three-pointer to give her 10 points on the evening, moving her into fifth place on the program's all-time scoring list. The trey gave her 1,242 points, moving her past Ta-Wanda Preston, who scored 1,240 from 1989-92. Greene and freshman guard

Senior guard/forward
Ariel Robinson added nine rebounds for the Raptors, while adding three steals to tie TCNJ's Devitt for game-high honors.
Rutgers-Camden shot 20-for-56 (35.7 percent) from the floor, while TCNJ went 25-for-58 (43.1). The Scarlet Raptors shot only 3-for-17 (17.6) from three-point range, compared to TCNJ's 10-for-27 (37.0).
Rutgers-Camden returns to NJAC action Saturday when it hosts Rutgers-Newark at 1 p.m.
