Neumann's fast start topples Rutgers-Camden lacrosse team

ASTON, Penn. (April 1, 2019) – The Neumann University lacrosse team scored the first 10 goals of the game in the opening 14:17 and went on to defeat Rutgers University-Camden, 18-8, in a non-conference game here Monday afternoon.
 
 
The Knights improve to 7-4 with their third win in the last four games. Rutgers-Camden dropped its third straight game as its record fell to 3-3.
 
Senior midfielder Kaitlyn Conrad scored five first-half goals as Neumann took a 12-2 lead into the break. She finished with eight goals and two assists for 10 points. Three of her teammates – senior midfielder Brittany Cassidy, junior midfielder Courtney Petrucelli and freshman midfielder Reilly Fiedler – notched two goals apiece, with Cassidy adding one assist.
 
Senior defender Lydia Beckman notched one goal and a game-high 11 draw controls for the Knights, while adding three ground balls and one caused turnover.
 
Freshman goalie Catriona Corrigan made 15 saves in the victory.
 
Rutgers-Camden received two goals and two assists from freshman midfielder Claire Gailliout, while freshman midfielder Jazmin Torres and freshman defender Eliada Destin notched two goals apiece. Torres added three draw controls, two ground balls and one caused turnover.
 
Freshman midfielder Carly Gregg collected one goal, one assist, five ground balls, two caused turnovers and two draw controls for the Scarlet Raptors, while senior midfielder Cara Racobaldo collected one goal, three draw controls, one ground ball and one caused turnover.
 
Junior defender Kacie Walton notched three ground balls and freshman attack Hailey Egan collected two ground balls.
 
Sophomore goalie Brittany Watson made eight saves while facing 29 shots and allowing 18 goals. She added two ground balls.
 
Rutgers-Camden hosts Rosemont College Thursday at 4 p.m.
