BETHLEHEM, Penn. (Sept. 14, 2019) – The Rutgers University-Camden women's soccer team spent plenty of time playing defense here Saturday in a non-conference game and the Raptors' defense came up big almost all day long.
It only took one shot by host Moravian College, however, to send the Scarlet Raptors to their fourth straight loss.
Paige Weiss headed home a corner kick by Megan Chesney at 60:59, lifting Moravian to a 1-0 victory over Rutgers-Camden. It was the third goal of the season for Weiss, helping to lift the Greyhounds to 3-2.
Rutgers-Camden falls to 0-4 with its second shutout defeat in three games.
Moravian outshot Rutgers-Camden, 14-3, collecting seven shots in both halves. The Greyhounds held an 11-4 advantage in corner kicks, including 8-3 in the second half.
The Raptors' three shots, all on goal, came from sophomore
Lindsay Hernandez and freshmen
Mya Bocchicchio and
Lauren Bone.
Raptor sophomore goalie
Natalie Eberhardt made eight saves, while a pair of Greyhound keepers combined for three saves in the shutout. Jamie Daly made one save in the opening half and Siobhan O'Sullivan played the second half and collected two saves.
The Scarlet Raptors play a 7 p.m. non-conference game at Cabrini University Thursday.
