Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Rutgers-Camden men drop 2-1 decision at TCNJ

EWING, N.J. (Oct. 13, 2021) – Road games at The College of New Jersey have been a nightmare over the years for the Rutgers University-Camden men's soccer team.

That trend continued here Wednesday night in a New Jersey Athletic Conference game.

Junior forward Justin Dominique scored a pair of goals, including the game winner midway through the second half, to lead TCNJ over Rutgers-Camden, 2-1. The loss continued a trend of frustration on the road at TCNJ for the Scarlet Raptors, who haven't won in Ewing since a 2-1 victory Sept. 24, 2003. Since that time, they are 0-6-4 at TCNJ. On the other side, they are 7-1 against the Lions in Camden since then.

The loss drops the Scarlet Raptors to 6-6-2 overall and 2-4 in the NJAC. With their third straight win, the Lions improve to 6-7-1 overall and 3-2-1 in the conference.

Rutgers-Camden had a quick start to the game as junior back Kyle Norton scored his first career goal only 4:42 into the contest. It was assisted by senior forward Boluwatife Sanya.

Dominique notched the equalizer at 33:40, as a pass from Luke Pascarella split the defenders to open up the Lions high-scoring forward for a shot under sophomore goalie Connor Smith. It was Dominique's seventh goal of the season.

Dominique notched goal number eight at 63:57 with a pair of headers coming off a corner kick. Ryan Phillips and Joseph Schlageter assisted on the goal.

Rutgers-Camden held a 13-10 edge in shots, although both teams only put three shots on goal. Smith made one save in the Raptor net, while sophomore Julian Franco had two saves for TCNJ.

Rutgers-Camden returns to New Jersey Athletic Conference action Saturday when it hosts New Jersey City University at 1 p.m.
