Men's soccer drops 1-0 decision at Haverford

HAVERFORD, Penn. (Oct. 6, 2021) – The Haverford College men's soccer team scored the game's lone goal midway through the first half and went on to blank Rutgers University-Camden, 1-0, in a non-conference contest here Wednesday afternoon.
 
The Fords improve to 4-6-1 with their second straight 1-0 win, while the Scarlet Raptors fall to 5-5-2. Three of Haverford's losses have come against Top 25 teams.
 
With 25:24 gone in the game, sophomore defender Max Mouer scored his first goal of the season following a Haverford corner kick.
 
The Fords finished with an 11-7 advantage in shots, including a 5-1 margin in the opening half. Rutgers-Camden had six corner kicks, while Haverford had five.
 
Scarlet Raptor freshman goalie Sean Boen notched three saves, while a pair of goalies split duties for the Fords. Sophomore Ben Menko didn't need to make a save in the opening half. Senior Aaron Cohen had two saves in the second half to combine for the shutout.
 
Freshman Pedro Jovel had two of the seven shots for Rutgers-Camden. The lone shots on goal for the Scarlet Raptors came off the feet of senior Dylan Kazmierowicz and freshman Ian Bialy.
 
Rutgers-Camden returns to New Jersey Athletic Conference action Saturday when it hosts the defending NJAC champion Ramapo College Roadrunners at 1 p.m.
