Skyler Diggs scored the tying goal with eight minutes left in regulation as the Rutgers University-Camden men's soccer team tied Cabrini University, 1-1 in double overtime here Wednesday night.
The tie leaves Rutgers-Camden with a 3-1-2 record, while Cabrini is 4-1-1.
The Cavaliers outshot the Scarlet Raptors, 7-2, in the opening half and made its pressure pay off only 1:59 into the second half when senior midfielder Nick Booth hit a shot into the upper right side of the net. He was assisted by junior forward Matt Duddy.
Rutgers-Camden evened the contest at 82:00 when senior forward
Skyler Diggs drilled a shot into the upper left side off a throw-in by senior forward
Khari Shepherd. It was the third goal of the season for Diggs, hiking his career total to 35. He is sixth on the program's career goal list. He also hiked his career point output to 73, seventh in program history.
The assist was the team-leading fifth for Shepherd.
Cabrini held a 16-9 advantage in shots and an 8-7 edge in corner kicks. Both sophomore goalies, the Raptors'
Connor Smith and the Cavaliers' Griff Rogers, had three saves.
The Scarlet Raptors begin New Jersey Athletic Conference play Saturday when they host perennial NJAC power Montclair State University at 1 p.m.
