GALLOWAY, N.J. (Oct. 19, 2022) – With teams jockeying for seedings in the upcoming New Jersey Athletic Conference, every game down the stretch has added importance.
The Rutgers-Camden men's soccer team managed to pull out a 0-0 tie at Stockton University here Wednesday night to remain locked in a tight battle among the conference leaders.
The deadlock leaves the Scarlet Raptors with a 3-2-2 record and 11 points, tied with Rutgers-Newark and Ramapo Ramapo College for second place in the conference. Right behind that trio of teams is New Jersey City University, with 10 points.
Rutgers-Camden is 6-7-5 overall, while Stockton is 10-4-3.
The Ospreys held an 18-6 advantage in shots and a 12-5 margin in corner kicks, but Scarlet Raptor sophomore goalie
Sean Boen came up with big plays time and again to keep Stockton off the scoreboard. Boen finished with six saves and made several other key plays to thwart the Ospreys.
Stockton keeper Liam Brett needed to make only one save off a second-half shot by Raptor grad student midfielder
Liam Craver.
The Scarlet Raptors face a rugged test Saturday when they play a 1 p.m. NJAC game at Montclair State University. The Red Hawks currently are ranked 10th nationally in both the United Soccer Coaches Division III Top 25 poll and in the D3soccer.com Top 25 poll.
