Jalissa Pitts earns All-NJAC honors

CAMDEN, N.J. (Feb. 22, 2022) – Rutgers University-Camden junior guard/forward Jalissa Pitts captured the second all-conference honor of her career today when the New Jersey Athletic Conference released its All-NJAC teams for the 2021-22 season.
 
The Scarlet Raptor co-captain was named NJAC Honorable Mention after a season in which she averaged 14.3 points and 6.4 rebounds, finishing second on the team in both categories. She also led the Scarlet Raptors in assists (48), tied for the team lead in steals (39) and finished third in blocked shots (8).
 
During her sophomore season, Pitts captured NJAC Second Team honors.
 
Pitts produced a pair of double-doubles this season with 23 points and 12 rebounds against John Jay (Nov. 29) and 17 points, 11 rebounds against Kean University (Feb. 12). She hiked her career total to eight double-doubles and nearly added another one in the final game of the regular season when she produced a career-high 32 points and added nine rebounds at Ramapo College (Feb. 16). The 32-point game earned her honors as Rutgers-Camden's Raptor of the Week on Monday, marking the fourth time in her career she captured that recognition.
 
In addition to her pair of All-NJAC honors, she was named the NJAC Rookie of the Week on Feb. 3, 2020.
 
Although her Rutgers-Camden career has been shortened by a pair of pandemic-altered schedules the last two seasons, Pitts has played in 49 games as a Scarlet Raptor, producing 646 points (13.2 ppg) and 360 rebounds (7.3 rpg). She also owns 89 career assists and 84 steals.
 
A Nursing major at Rutgers-Camden, Pitts has been a star in the classroom as well as on the court. She earned NJAC Academic Honorable Mention for the 2020-21 scholastic year, is a Dean's List student and is a four-time member of the Rutgers-Camden Athletic Director's Honor Roll.
 
During her outstanding scholastic career at Winslow Township High School, Pitts was a four-year letterwinner in both basketball and soccer, while also earning two letters for outdoor track. She was a two-time All-Olympic Conference First Team player in basketball.
 
Jalissa, who was joined on the Rutgers-Camden basketball this season by her sister Jania, is the daughter of Preston and Toni Pitts of Sicklerville.
