SWARTHMORE, Pa. (Sept. 4, 2022) – The Swarthmore College men's soccer team scored three goals in the opening half and went on to defeat Rutgers University-Camden, 3-0, in a non-conference game here Sunday.
The loss drops the Scarlet Raptors to 0-2 on the season, their worst start since an 0-3 opening in 2010. That season they recovered to post a 13-8-1 record and win the ECAC championship.
Swarthmore (2-0) scored its first goal at 27:35 on a shot by junior Brandon Cramblit, assisted by junior Freddie Lin. The Garnet added a goal by freshman Toshiro Kenney at 36:49, assisted by freshman Adrien Marcelli. They finished off the first-half scoring at 40:07 when junior Matthew Loreg finished off a feed from freshman Koome Murungi.
Swarthmore held a 13-8 advantage in shots, scoring on three of its four shots on goal. Both teams had six corner kicks and two yellow cards.
Sophomore
Sean Boen played the first 77:17 in the Scarlet Raptor net, allowing three goals and making the Raptors' lone save. Freshman
Jordan Brickner finished the game for his first collegiate action.
Junior Caleb Ehrenhaft notched the shutout for Swarthmore, making four saves.
The Scarlet Raptors play another road game Monday with a 4 p.m. contest at Widener University, which also enters the game 0-2.
