CAMDEN, N.J. (Feb. 4, 2023) – The Rutgers University-Camden women's basketball program celebrated Senior Day for a trio of departing players here Saturday afternoon, but it was Ramapo College that posted a win in New Jersey Athletic Conference action.
The Roadrunners broke a 20-20 tie late in the second quarter and went on to defeat the Scarlet Raptors, 59-40, on a day when Rutgers-Camden honors seniors

Ramapo improved to 15-7 overall and 9-6 in the NJAC, while Rutgers-Camden falls to 3-19 and 1-14. Ramapo has has won its last four games against Rutgers-Camden, although the Scarlet Raptors lead the series, 42-25.
Rutgers-Camden led twice in the early going at 2-0 and 4-2, before Ramapo went on a nine-point run to take an 11-4 lead. The Roadrunners led, 15-9, after one quarter and opened up an 18-9 lead early in the second quarter before an 11-2 run by the Scarlet Raptors tied the game at 20-20. A layup by Blocker tied the score with 3:31 remaining before halftime, but Ramapo took the lead for good shortly thereafter on a pair of foul shots by freshman forward Karly Wittenbauer.
By halftime, Ramapo held a 28-21 lead, but the Scarlet Raptors sliced the margin to 28-26 early in the third quarter when

Ariana Garcia followed with a three-pointer. Ramapo ran off the next nine points, however, and the closest the Raptors came after that was 40-32 at the end of the third quarter.
Sophomore guard Olivia Johnstone paced the Roadrunners with 13 points, while sophomore guard Jada Thompson had a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds, while adding a game-high four steals. Sophomore forward Salma Eddahiri also had 10 rebounds for Ramapo, helping the Roadrunners hold a 55-35 advantage off the boards.
Jalissa Pitts, who ranks 14th on the Rutgers-Camden all-time scoring list, notched 18 points to hike her career total to 1,056 points. She added seven rebounds. Blocker scored 15 points for the Scarlet Raptors to raise her total to 632 points in just two seasons with the team.

Jania Pitts tied her career high with 10 rebounds, while Garcia had eight rebounds to set a new career high.
Ramapo shot 22-for-65 from the floor (33.8 percent), while Rutgers-Camden was 12-for-55 (21.8).
The Scarlet Raptors return to action Wednesday when they play their final home game of the season. They will entertain NJAC co-leader Kean University at 6 p.m. on Scarlet Raptors Rally night.
