Raptors finish eighth at F&M Spring Invitational

LITITZ, Pennsylvania (April 17, 2023) – The Rutgers University-Camden golf team shot a round of 334 to finish eighth here Monday at the F&M Spring Invitational. The event was held at the Par 71, 6,660-yard Bent Creek Country Club.
 
Host Franklin & Marshall saw its B team win the 13-team invitational, carding a 296, 12 strokes over par, to defeat Dickinson College by four strokes. Franklin & Marshall's A team finished third with a 301. Rutgers-Camden finished ninth with a 334 team score, one stroke behind Thomas Jefferson University.
 
Jacob Haberstumpf of Movavian College and Jas Fuhrer of Franklin & Marshall both shot a 1-under par 70 in the field of 68 golfers, with Haberstumpf earning medalist honors on matching cards.
 
The Scarlet Raptors' top golfer, senior Patrick DeMareo, continued a busy week which saw him tie for ninth place last Tuesday at the two-day Swarthmore DuPont Invitational, then compete in three matches after joining the Rutgers-Camden tennis team, rising from sixth singles in his debut to second singles on Sunday. In Monday's F&M Spring Invitational, DeMareo tied for seventh, shooting a 2-over par 73.
 
 Freshman Pearse Lee finished second on the Raptors, shooting an 85 to tie for 38th place, while freshman Reid Walker tied for 44th with a round of 87. Senior Ryan Lewbart tied for 47th with an 89 and senior David Gibson carded a round of 92 to finish 54th.
 
The Scarlet Raptors will play in the United East Championships at the Clinton Country Club in Mill Hall, Pennsylvania, on April 29-30.
