CAMDEN, N.J. (April 18, 2023) – The College of New Jersey softball team ripped 30 hits and took advantage of 10 Rutgers University-Camden errors as it swept past the Scarlet Raptors in a New Jersey Athletic Conference doubleheader here Tuesday.
TCNJ won the opener, 8-0, behind freshman pitcher Elizabeth Gosse and took the nightcap, 13-5, while taking advantage of eight Scarlet Raptor errors.
The wins lift the Lions to 19-9 overall and 9-3 in the NJAC, while the Scarlet Raptors fall to 8-20 and 5-7.
Rutgers-Camden returns to NJAC action Saturday when it hosts Rutgers University-Newark in a 1 p.m. doubleheader.

In the opener, Gosse (9-3) worked 6.1 innings of four-hit, shutout ball, issuing no walks and striking out one. Senior Gillian Roberts combined on the shutout by getting the final two outs.
The Lions scored all the runs they needed in a two-run third inning, sparked by a leadoff single from graduate second baseman Camryn Davies. A ground out and a single by senior center fielder Jaclyn Carifi moved her to third and, after Carifi stole second base, Davies scored on a single by junior shortstop Julia Kinnally. Carifi was thrown out at home on the back end of the play, but Kinnally moved to second. She scored on a double by sophomore third baseman Mckayla Yard.
TCNJ scored three times in the fifth inning, including a two-run home run by Carifi, who went 4-for-4 with two runs and three RBIs in the game. The Lions added two runs in the sixth on a Carifi RBI single and a run-scoring double by Kinnally. They tacked on their final run in the seventh.
In addition to Carifi, Yard went 3-for-3 with one run and one RBI, while Kinnally went 2-for-4 with one run and two RBIs.
Raptor sophomore
Lindsey Rodzon (8-11) took the loss, allowing 10 hits, one walk and five earned runs over five innings. She struck out two.
TCNJ 13, Rutgers-Camden 5
Rutgers-Camden committed eight errors, leading to seven unearned runs, and the Lions ripped 17 hits in the second game. Junior catcher Julia Mayernik and Davies led the attack with three hits apiece. Mayernik and freshman first baseman Camryn Kitchin both had three RBIs.
Rodzon (8-12) tossed a complete game, allowing 17 hits, five walks and 13 runs, only six of them earned.

Kamryn Kennedy had a big game for the Scarlet Raptors, going 3-for-4 with two runs, three RBIs, a double and a solo home run. Junior shortstop
