Maresa Savarese all notched a goal and an assist as the Rutgers University-Camden women's soccer team defeated Bryn Athyn College, 4-0, in a non-conference game here Saturday.
The win snaps the Raptors' two-game losing streak and hikes Rutgers-Camden's record to 4-2-1. It was the first loss of the season for the Lions, who fell to 3-1.
Moments after Jackson-Conner had a shot saved by Bryn Athyn goalie Chloe Munyon early in the game, the Scarlet Raptor forward took a shot that Munyon couldn't save. Jackson-Conner's shot at 6:53 was her third goal of the season and her team-leading second game-winning goal. It was assisted by Owens.
Rutgers-Camden added an insurance goal only 6:03 into the second half, with Jackson-Conner assisting sophomore forward
Maresa Savarese. It was the team-leading fifth goal of the season for Savarese and was Jackson-Conner's second assist.
Junior forward
Emily Owens added her third goal of the season in the 73rd minute, assisted by Savarese.
Rutgers-Camden notched its final tally with 2:38 remaining in the game as freshman
Samantha Benckert scored her first collegiate goal, assisted by junior
Alyssa Monti.
The Raptors out-shot the Lions, 27-5, including 15-2 in shots on goal. Raptor junior keeper
Michaela Graham raised her record to 4-0 with one save, while the Scarlet Raptors also had a backsave. Munyon and sophomore goalie Breanna Smith each made five saves for Bryn Athyn, which also had one backsave.
Both teams had three corner kicks.
Rutgers-Camden returns to action Tuesday with a 7 p.m. non-conference game at Arcadia University.
