CAMDEN, N.J. (October 12, 2024) – The Rutgers University-Camden women's soccer team honored 10 graduating players on Senior Day here Saturday, but Stockton University spoiled the festivities with a 2-0 victory in a New Jersey Athletic Conference game.
The loss drops the Scarlet Raptors to 6-6-2 overall and 1-3 in the NJAC, while Stockton improves to 7-4-2 and 2-1-1.
Stockton holds a 20-3-5 lead in its all-time series against Rutgers-Camden.
In pre-game ceremonies, the Scarlet Raptors honored seniors and fifth-year players
Jazmin Brown, Hannah Crowley, Alexa D'Ilio, Michaela Graham, Carly Henning, Josie Jackson-Conner, Amy Maurer, Alyssa Monti, Emily Owens and
Alyson Petro.
The Ospreys controlled the first half with a 9-4 advantage in shots and a 5-0 margin in corner kicks, but only managed one goal on a strike by fifth-year forward Kayla Rozanski. Her strong shot from the right of the box found the back left panel with 2:04 remaining in the half.
The Ospreys added an insurance goal at 78:34 when sophomore midfielder Bella Bednarz tapped in a loose ball near the goal mouth.
Stockton finished with a 15-10 advantage in shots, including a 9-2 margin in shots on goal. The Ospreys also had a 7-1 lead in corner kicks.
Raptor goalie Graham made seven saves, including five in the opening half. Her Stockton counterpart, junior Morgan Keil, had two saves.
Rutgers-Camden resumes its New Jersey Athletic Conference schedule Wednesday at 6 p.m. at The College of New Jersey, which is currently ranked 10th nationally in the Division III United Soccer Coaches Top 25 poll.
