NEWARK, N.J. (October 2, 2024) – The Rutgers University-Camden women's soccer team had the edge in shots, shots on goal and corner kicks here Wednesday night, but it was Rutgers University-Newark that scored the lone goal to post a 1-0 win in a New Jersey Athletic Conference game.
The result snapped the Scarlet Raptors' six-game unbeaten streak (5-0-1) and dropped Rutgers-Camden to 5-4-2 overall and 1-1 in NJAC play.
Rutgers-Newark improved to 5-4-2 and 1-1 in the conference.
The Newark victory was the first over Rutgers-Camden since a 2-1 overtime win in Camden on October 23, 2021.
Rutgers-Camden now leads the all-time series, 15-5-5.
Newark notched the lone goal at 33:04 when senior midfielder Leila Ettayebi scored her 13th tally of the season, assisted by senior back Neli Velasquez.
Rutgers-Camde finished with an 11-8 advantage in shots, including a 6-4 margin in shots on goal. The Scarlet Raptors also had a 7-4 edge in corner kicks.

Michaela Graham made three saves, while Newark senior keeper Amaya Angela earned the shutout with six saves.
Rutgers-Camden returns to action Saturday for a Homecoming Day NJAC game at 1 p.m. against Rowan University. The Profs received votes toward the United Soccer Coaches Division III Top 25 poll this week.
