UNION, N.J. (October 26, 2024) – The Rutgers University-Camden women's soccer team fell into a big hole early in the second half here Saturday, but the Scarlet Raptors and freshman
Ava Stowell had other plans.
Stowell scored a pair of goals in the final 18 minutes as Rutgers-Camden rallied to tie Kean University, 2-2, in a New Jersey Athletic Conference game.
The tie leaves the Scarlet Raptors at 7-7-4 overall and 2-4-2 in the NJAC, while the Cougars stand at 7-7-3 and 2-3-3. Although Kean leads the all-time series, 7-14-6, the tie extended the Scarlet Raptors' recent success. Rutgers-Camden has a 5-0-3 record against Kean in its last eight meetings.
The Scarlet Raptors had advantages of 10-4 in shots and 3-1 in corner kicks in a scoreless first half, but it was the Cougars that broke the tie early in the second half . Freshman forward Ella Petrosh scored a goal at 56:28 and then added another one at 61:59, giving Kean a 2-0 lead. Both goals were assisted by freshman midfielder Courtney Irwin.
Shortly afterwards, however, a pair of cards were dished out, with Irwin getting a straight red to give Rutgers-Camden a man advantage beginning at 68:16. It only took four minutes for the Scarlet Raptors to take advantage. Stowell scored her third goal of the season at 72:17, assisted by junior back

With time winding down, Stowell struck again with the tying goal. Her fourth tally of the year came at 84:13, assisted by senior midfielder
Hannah Crowley. It was the first multi-goal game of Stowell's young collegiate career.
Rutgers-Camden finished with advantages of 18-8 in shots and 6-3 in corner kicks. Raptor senior goalie

The Scarlet Raptors close their regular season Wednesday with a 7 p.m. home NJAC game against Montclair State University.
