MONTCLAIR, N.J. (Oct. 29, 2024) – The Rutgers University-Camden men's soccer team earned the fourth seed and a first-round home game in the upcoming New Jersey Athletic Conference playoffs after playing to a 1-1 tie here Wednesday night at Montclair State University.
The tie gives the Scarlet Raptors an 8-6-5 record overall and a 4-2-3 mark in the NJAC heading into Saturday's playoff opener. Rutgers-Camden will host Rutgers-Newark, the fifth seed, at 11 a.m.
Rutgers-Camden and Rutgers-Newark played to a 0-0 tie in Camden on October 2.

Montclair State, which will be the tournament's second-seeded team and earn a first-round bye, finished the regular season with a 12-4-2 mark overall and a 6-2-1 record in NJAC play.
Both teams scored in the first half, with Montclair State taking the lead at 34:30 on a goal by sophomore midfielder Max Perry, assisted by freshman forward Diego Flores. It was the second goal of the season for Perry.
In the following 10 minutes, the Scarlet Raptors earned a pair of corner kicks, and the second one resulted in an own goal at 44:11 to tie the game.
Although Montclair State held a 6-1 advantage in shots and a 4-0 edge in corner kicks after halftime, Raptor senior goalie
Sean Boen shut down the Red Hawks with a pair of second-half saves. Boen finished with three saves in the game, while Montclair State freshman goalie Alexander Velasquez had two saves.
Montclair State finished with a 10-4 advantage in shots and a 5-2 edge in corner kicks, but the shots on goal margin was only 4-3 in favor of the Red Hawks.
